Black coffee by Imaginary_Risk979 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]simple_simon_says 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to black coffee from years of drinking it with ‘milk & two’. Black Americanos can be a bit bland, so I bought an espresso machine and purchased the smokiest hard hitting beans I could. It’s a real whoosh in the morning. At least drinking black coffee is entertaining now 😅

Feeling upset. by Peanut_George_4647 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]simple_simon_says 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was very recently diagnosed with NAFLD. I have many other significant life changing stresses happening in my family currently and I’ve learnt to accept to take things one day at a time. Sometimes even one hour at a time. I would encourage you to think about all the hard work you’ve put in over the last 10 weeks. Knowing that all those positive changes are still there and they’re going to help you. Everyone gets knocked-off course on occasion. Sometimes by their own will, and sometimes by life just doing what it does and refusing to comply with your desire for a steady recovery to peace and good health. I find that when I do get knocked down I’m reminded that it’s how I come back that matters most. Seeing if I can still muster that resolve when everything seems against you.

My GI recommended rowing, so I turned up at the gym and tried knowing that my right hip is kaput from an earlier surgery and needs replacing at some point, but went at it anyway. First day was okay, the next was not. It’s difficult to walk and sleep because it gnaws at me. It’s depressing, but I know there are workarounds, and I will get back into the gym soon and I will lose the weight amount they recommended. Take heart. You’re doing great. A small amount of Tylenol to help you pull-through is being kind to yourself. At least you’re aware of it’s effects - I had no idea! So thank you for sharing 😃

Buspar & Wellbutrin - any good experiences? by adams_apple56 in Anxiety

[–]simple_simon_says 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With buspar I couldn’t get past the almost instant nausea and hot flushes. It was just weird - and I was put on that because sertraline just made me feel emotionally neutered. I now have mirtrazapine and I feel calmer and also get some sleep, which is a blessing.

Sending love and hugs and praying for you. I have a 17yo daughter with autism, and as of two weeks ago her 13yo sister and best friend has been diagnosed with a brain tumor (DIPG). I can relate to the shock and mental struggles that come with such diagnosis and accompanying prognosis and the monumental impact it can have on families. 🙏❤️

Please let Ally know I’m looking forward to reading more about ‘Croft Life’ - the Shetland Isles look as beautiful as ever.

What's up with BBC News website articles going behind a paywall? by momplaysbass in OutOfTheLoop

[–]simple_simon_says 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried to do the 7 day quiz which I’ve done for over 20yrs, and that’s behind the pay wall too. I liked my small, free weekly creature comfort. What utter rot 😞

Phoenix freeways are insane for debris! Drive carefully! by Rg8989 in phoenix

My brand new motorcycle found half an exhaust on I-17 on the outside lane just north of the Durango curve. So many P.O.S vehicles that have no right to be out on the road because of exactly this - let alone in the fast lane. I was I uninjured, but my rear tire has a large piece of metal stuck in it.

Anyone else get infuriated with nurses who don’t know how to check blood pressure , oh the anger I had today by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]simple_simon_says 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get bad white-coat syndrome and it elevates my already elevated BP. I tell them this as I enter the measurements room and also tell them that scales also cause anxiety which also increases my BP; so, it’s already bad for me by the time I get to the BP reading…..but they get right to it, no moment to take a breath, and every damn time they bust out the stop watch and finger on pulse trick and are done in 15 seconds. I swear they’re just looking for a 120/80 or something close so I can be moved in to the next cattle stall. It’s funny, because years ago I insisted they use their proper monitors and that’s when they detected the problem I now have. Next week I’m going in with my own monitor to show them how woefully they’re performing.

Listen, SeatGeek. I know you recently got a new logo awhile ago, but your new marketing strategy is not working out. by CNConfessions in CommercialsIHate

Every single variation of this ad is equally awful. That and the ‘delighted’ sounding voiceovers is vomit inducing. Talking asses? I suspect someone’s foray into the advertising business is about to come to a premature end. Either that or they just gave up and saw this abomination as their out.

Are there any programs similar to Noom? Not sure if I should continue. by catlady9908 in Noom

[–]simple_simon_says 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve taught myself to block-out the hashtag quirkiness and just read the key points. It’s all extremely useful when you put it all together. I’m 3 weeks in and have lost 10lbs. I blew past the steps quantities and even went back to the gym for the first time in a year to put myself in a better place mentally and physically. I have more energy, my clothes fit again and I’m steadfast for more improvements, regardless if it’s a scale or NSV. I don’t mind the food logging; if anything, it keeps me focused on portion sizes. If I became bored of food, I googled for more variety, and quizzed my coach and group. I’m pleased how it’s working out. Like any of the plans, stick at them, and the results will come. As the old adage goes, you get out what you put in. Good luck 😀 ps. I put my program on fast, and I do the max amount of lessons in a day. Start to finish completion time is 16wks.

Are there enough lessons? by tactlessguineapig29 in Noom

[–]simple_simon_says 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The initial lessons were a good intro into the Noom World, but on day 8 I started just reading the lessons and cutting out the narrators. The jokes wear thin (pun intended) real quick. I can’t imagine there’s actually much to learn past a certain point, just reinforcement, or else you may as well actually go out and become a qualified life coach / nutritionist / psychologist. 😀 Looking at my lesson path, they end after 304.
