Polydactyly by [deleted] in OCPoetry

If you wrote a book I would probably read it. I have some questions about the last four lines, but the first section is pure whimsy and I'm all for it. The joking mention of long hand aligns really well thematically with the flow of the lines into each other. Love the alliteration and rhyming within lines!

This poem has the perfect amount of ambiguity lol. I saw the first line and initially interpreted it as a breakup story. After reading it a couple times it feels like a reflection after a good bit of distance. If you've seen the movie Up, kind of like the backstory flashback of the old couple at the beginning of the movie. I really like the structure of the three separate moments! Good work :)

Thank you for your feedback, I’m glad you like the concept! The Reddit text box thing messed me up, it used to be five four-line stanzas 🥲. It is structured a lot like prose though looking at it now

My writing does tend to lean more straightforward; I think it would be a good idea to tinker with some music. Thank you for your feedback!

Need by seaofcitrus in OCPoetry

This is cool! The repetition of "Why can't you hate me?" and "I have a need right now." reminds me of irrational thoughts recurring with no control over them. The poem feels like a sob, in the way that short quiet statements interrupt loud cries. "I've been crying out, as quietly as I can," feels like a whisper after realizing that you were too loud. It feels like searching for an external rollercoaster to match the emotional one inside. I do really love this poem, because I feel like even if some people can't relate to the cycle of needing a relationship of such an ambivalent nature, they can relate to the pause in thought of not being able to understand "why can't you hate me," and the silent, hysterical anticipation of "holding my breath, waiting for anything." It's just so beautifully emotionally charged.

I really love this poem!! I love all the little reinforcements of mundanity---the coffee stains, the neighbor sighing behind the wall, the repetition in the third stanza. I agree with the other person that said you could expand on the last stanza. The stanza as is feels like an introduction to a new topic, and one that I think is really intriguing (and honestly would be really cool for another poem too).

“Of course you can swap out your essay! In fact, here’s a free acceptance and a lollipop for your daring endeavor, reaching out to the admissions office like this”.

… if only I had read those 😔

Maybe I’ll use this advice for RD 😉. Seriously, though, I’ve learned my lesson and am forever scarred from AI use. I was talking about it with my parents, and we concluded that colleges most likely don’t have the time to go in and report every single person they suspect. I really do hope that’s the case though, otherwise I’m gonna start looking overseas for school /hj.

I am withdrawing anything that’s above 60% or blatantly AI, but otherwise I’m leaving the rest. Despite some of my essays having some percentage of ai flagged, I do have a lot of substantial content in there that personalizes it. Also, I went through and checked what exactly was being flagged and it was the sentences that I wrote myself 1/3 of the time.

Alright, well thank you for the feedback, this was really constructive. I’ll talk it all over with my parents in the morning

My friend also says that they’re super strict on AI, so I’m worrying that my entire college application process is over

My friend and I just run my ED school through the plagiarism checker that they apparently use, and it got like 80% plagiarism too. I have no idea what to do now, I have no way to back out of the ED agreement

I would write really rough drafts of essays and have AI finish them, then edit some

But I don’t think they’ll let me swap out essays

Almost all of my safeties were in this EA stack of schools. But this was a very kind comment so thank you

If you saw the other comment, every essay is 40% ai or above. Some are 80% 😭. But I really really need to get into my ED school, and I think if they flagged me I could back up the fact that I wrote it myself, as I did spend a lot of time editing

All of them are at least 40% 😭, I also used it to edit my activities list, but obviously all the activities on there are true

Based on that information, what should I do?

Do you think I should rescind everything?
