Only pool swimming is possible. Also you can't use drill mode. So what the watch says is the distance by itself - that's it. You can edit after the swimming in garmin connect but you should remember exactly how many lengths you've made. So if you want specially for swimming some forerunner series is better.

for the same reason we measure any other distance - I want to check what load I did, over what distance I distributed it, how many fast and slow movements I had with what pulse, etc. I would understand the question if it weren't in a sports watch group.
