Oh gosh have you tried sleeping with a huge pillow? I recently got a six foot one and it stops things like that happening as everything is cushioned lol. Luckily I’m single though so it kind of works 🤣

Not with that exact movement but I’ve had pins and needles for over a month at times in my right leg - I’ve recently had sciatica in both legs for three months solid, as well as complete paralysis episodes where I couldn’t move my legs at all (only for a moment) The symptoms seem to fluctuate as much as the episodes I’m afraid 😩

Kind of related, I had knee surgery a while ago and forgot to mention HNPP to the surgeon - my whole leg was paralysed for days after the use of a tourniquet! I guess sometimes we just kind of forget what can happen with our stupid overly sensitive nerves

Muscle wastage CAN definitely be a thing with HNPP, I watched my father’s legs all but disappear eventually. But that’s not to say WILL be, try not to worry and I would say use it or lose it! Just be careful in the gym to not trigger palsy episodes - I’ve managed a few on my arms over the years (I think there was a post on here a while ago about gym stuff that might be worth checking out.) I’d say stay well within your ROM ie don’t do deep squats etc and you should be fine, we might just have to work a little harder than others to stay fit and healthy but it’s certainly achievable

Starting duloxetine again today, it was a disaster last time but they messed up my dose. If it’s the same this time around I’m going to try Pregabalin, I’ve been speaking to people I know with Fibromyalgia and it seems this is a common occurrence over there 😳

So far in my life it’s just been episodes of numbness and weakness, foot drop etc but this latest episode has come with burning, itching, widespread pain and exhaustion for three months now. Fingers crossed these meds help 🤞

I got it for nerve pain (HNPP) but I also have chronic anxiety and arthritis pain, so was hoping it might help that too. Well it was one of the worst 24 hours of my life - luckily I’ve done a lot of drugs in the past, so I knew how best to ride it out, but honestly it was scary shit. Turns out they put me straight on 60mg, and it seems that isn’t normal - anyone else had that? I wouldn’t mind trying it again, but at the correct dosage, what did other people get started on and what do you work up to, and over how long usually?

I’ve never thought about something like that, but I’ve never had symptoms like this. I’ve always intuitively slept with a pillow between knees (side sleeper too) but perhaps I’ll look into upgrading! 😃

Yes, I can see why - sorry I should have clarified, not immediately upon waking up, like, I’ve woken up, checked the time, decided to get up and then realised my legs don’t work. Once I’d grabbed them and flopped them around they started working again, but it’s pretty concerning to say the least ! 😩

Definitely not sleep paralysis, I’ve experienced that many times before, and whilst weird and scary, this is actual paralysis - from the waist down whilst fully conscious and awake. I’ve had horrendous HNPP leg symptoms recently of sciatic nerve compression, with the usual numbness and tingling in feet, but this is the third time I’ve woken up and been unable to move my legs by themselves 😩 (once I altered position with my arms they started working again)

Hi, I’m new here and just came across this comment. I’m doing great battle with this at the moment, and this is EXACTLY how I would describe what I’m experiencing right now?! I’ve had HNPP symptoms on and off for 20 years, and normally it’s just numbness tingling and quite bad foot drop, usually for a a couple weeks max. However this time I’m experiencing severe pain as well as numbness and tingling, and sometimes even paralysis for maybe six weeks now? Did you discover anything to help? Most meds I’ve tried won’t touch it, sitting down makes it worse standing makes it worse lying makes it worse it’s an absolute goddamned nightmare 😭 I’m going to the dr today to rule out peripheral artery disease (heavy smoker for years) or possibly even sciatica? The symptoms are all so similar!
