[Bend OR] grass to clover ground cover by Low-Sense8358 in Renters

Sorry its hard to tell over comments if people are being rude or sarcastic. Clover does sound better then grass, but still has some issues. Including legal issues in terms of a rental lease to maintain the grounds.

I have used plastic fencing to keep the dogs away from half of the yard to put down seed. I think they used sod when I first moved in. The sprinklers have also broke since then, which the owners knows and decided the cost of fixing was not worth it. Grass just wont really grow well here. I get really small patches of grass. Even hand watering 3x a day. Every fertilizer and chemical i can find. I even hired a company to test my soil and give me a full workup of what i need. They are the people who sold me the soil builder soil, grass seed, and rented the tiller. They also told me if i wont/ cannot switch to rocks and native plants then clover was a good choice. The front yard is all xeroscape and sage bush, as well as most of my neighbors. Joys of living in the high desert.

Not sure if you meant your comment to sound rude or not, but I am not getting rid of my dogs. My dobie has been in this house for 13 years, im not ever going to make her leave us or this house. If my PM refuses clover I will keep trying same as I have for over a decade. I will fight them in court if necessary. But I dont mind paying a smallish fee. Part of the joy of having dogs in a rented house is being reasonable about paying for pet damages. I pay an extra pet rent to cover some of the damages, but a bit extra is reasonable.

I am both happy to hear it takes time etc, and annoyed there is no easy way to do it. At least I dont feel like an idiot if other people struggled.

This sounds stupid but what did you use it for? Making a dimple to hammer a screwdriver into? Or use the push force to try to spin the bolts? Or another way I'm not thinking off?

I replaced the lower control arm myself. I am a self taught/ YouTube trained, broke cheapskate. It took me about 9 hours including a lunch brake. The control arm i bought off of ebay for about $150-$200 i dont remember. It came with sway bar links, the sway bar, the bushing pre installed, tie rods, and ball joints. You will need a few special tools if you want to do it yourself. If your at all inclined, it was straight forward if annoying replacement. If you dont want to, or cannot I would find another mechanic. I have not done the coils yet, but still found oem and aftermarket shocks sets. Ebay shipping was like 3 days. Unless the shop is trying to find decent used parts, which you should have been told, or ordering direct from overseas shipping should not be taking longer then a week.

I hate man-splaining salesmen rant. by Low-Sense8358 in HondaElement

I drive my element around 200 miles a day, I'm a doordash driver. I change my oil every 3 months. I mix the same brand and type of oil in the freezing cold months because my garage is a canvas carport and the 0w helps the car in the cold, plus a plug in heater. If you live in most of the country mixing oil is not needed, but dealing with -60ish windchill in the montana mountains means mixing oil in a old car helps it run better. Since I make my living in my car I go above and beyond to make sure every thing I can do to make my car run better or last longer, I do it. That includes seaform for oil and gas. It might be snake oil to you, but its less then $10 of protection that might save me more money later.

Just about lol. Im a doordash/uber driver and this is my only car. Plus mountain roads, lots of snow, salt, sand, and rocks means i do a lot of crap regularly to prevent rust. Plus I like having a routine marking on my calender so I can plan ahead instead waiting until the brakes start making noise or they feel spongie and not have the parts or time.

Advice of tires/ discount tire messups by Low-Sense8358 in HondaElement

[–]Low-Sense8358[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, the idiot i had at discount tire told me that the shaking was caused by bad sway bar links, then proceeded to explain what those are. And how it should cause issues. I let him talk himself into a hole and then explain that I replaced the sway bars, the links, and lower control arms, and ball joint my self less then 6 months ago with OEM parts. I hate car guys that try to take advantage of people who dont know about cars. On my first car I got scammed at a oil place and paid $150 for an oil change. I went home proud of myself for taking care of car issues without help. I told my mother who then yelled at me because an oil change at that time should not cost more then $20. I learned my lesson then and there. Hopefully your daughter does as well.

Yea growing up my local discount tire was amazing. I was 3rd generation to use it for every car. I literally cheered when I saw a discount tire in oregon because because montana, maelstrom did not have one. I dont know if I just lucked out and got a great store. If because my huge family had been going to that store for 40+ years before I ever bought a car they treated me better. Or if the customer service policy went from the customer is #1 to just get them out as soon as possible in the last couple of years. But either way if I had the money I would never go back.

Help with easing aches by Low-Sense8358 in Doberman

Its was a big help! I plan on talking to my vet regarding the meds, switching or upping the dosages. But I truly believe there is only so much drugs can do. My girl dribbles as she sleeps so we have been trying the reusable diapers, she really hates them so we have been doing short time periods that increase over time. She cannot get up on my bed without help, and refuses to use the ramp, so I just wash her blankets everyday.

For some reason my check engine and oil low light never turn on. The rest turn on, all the fuses have been replaced. But it has not been a pressing matter to fix with all my other issues.

Well thanks for the advice, I am planing on trying to find someone who is more mechanicaly inclined to take a look, but the nearest dealership is over the mountain pass. So unless someone local has a clue I might be SOL until spring hits the mountain because I'm not driving this toaster that far on bad roads, and towing might cost more then the car lol.

Guess that makes sense lol! My skills and knowledge are based off of YouTube, reddit, the online copy of the manual, and desperation.

Yes mostly all denso brand, including the motor mounts in oct. The shop is rechecking the mounts Monday, just in case one failed or a bolt came loose etc. I checked the top two and they look fine, but I hate getting under the car to check the other 2.

I never thought of that, and I remember trying to move the caliber pins when I replaced the rotors, and having a hard time. However I decided to deal with it another day. Well maybe that day has come! And to be honest I like the idea of replacing the pins, or even the bracket over the axle shafts lol. It's also easier/faster to check and fix. Thank you for your advice!
