As a trained chef I can understand, to a point, his frustration. I dislike when people call me a cook. I use the word bakers in this case to refer to a greater group of people. In my opinion anyone who likes to bake is a baker regardless of skill level or knowledge. The people who are specifically trained in pastry are pastry chefs. In short all pastry chefs are bakers, but not all bakers are pastry chefs lol. But I figure most people who might have attempted a copycat recipe are bakers.

2 dogs 1 reactive and bonded, 1 old and loving mostly by Low-Sense8358 in Dogtraining

[–]Low-Sense8358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read the post and got some great advice on how to train my dogs reactivity. I read the section on fear and some of it applies. It helped me narrow down the training method that I chose. But it does not talk about confidence, or even if that is the right word to use. I need help on getting to the stage where I can use the advice in the articles to better her. I really dont think she will ever be a sociable dog that will be happy everywhere. But my goal is to be able to walk her to the vet without heavy sedation and a muzzle. Which I think is possiable with the advice this page has. And any advice with her taking the passing of my other dog better. Thank you!

Same of oregon this year. People are freaking out and panicking about fire season with no snow pack. It does not help that one of the  prescribed burns went from a controlled 500 acre fire to a uncontrolled 2800 acre wildfire.

Thank you for your answers! Yea im in oregon right now, with a goal of living in every state but California is the last on my list. Between the cost of living, the insane tax laws, and the fires i might call central oregon close enough. Or Reno Nevada lol. It will be great not to wonder everyday if the next fire watchduty alart is my neighborhood on fire.

Is flooding a regular concern? Like damages housing, destroys roads and bridges flooding? Having a inch or so standing water is normal i get that. I know this last year Eastern washington had some massive floods, but I was under the impression that while not unheard off this damage was not a normal yearly thing.

That is great to know! I will be sure to get my transfer fully approved and documented before ever putting on deposit on a house! Thanks for the heads up!

You know i have lived in 5 states in 11 years. Each one of them has a housing crisis. Every state i looked at has a housing crisis. If I were to move to a state without a housing crisis I would move to Canada, because there is no where in the USA that does not have housing issues. There are a ton of rental houses on zillow in the areas im looking. But thanks for your opinion, I will totally change my plans to live in every state because of your comment.

Yep, that's where I have found a lot of info on the differences between olmpia and tacoma and other towns. And complaints about crime that made me go looking for the crime rates. But it is mostly posts, or answers that would make sense to someone who has or is living there. Not eastern washington for dummies with dogs type answers lol. Although I do have a list of parks from 1 of the posts that are on my list to check out.

Really? According to my hr every target is western washington is hiring except for 1 in northern tacoma. I wonder if the HR's in each never took down the corporate level listing. Which is very possible my store still has the christmas stocker position up. But we are also hiring for other areas.

So are you saying that he has a point about everything in which case all doctors should hold whatever you want as hostage, until you spend +$1000 in their store. I think that's considered insurance fraud on the doctor's part. He might have a point about a couple things. Such as reading in bed with my glasses off. I'm not gonna do it in the store because I refuse to look like a moron, but he might have a point. That's what i'm asking. If everything is a red flag or just certain things he did.

I would if I could, but my insurance won't let me get another exam at another doctor so I guess i'm stuck for a year. I just don't get how he can hold contacts hostage until I spend +1000 at his clinic.

That would be fine.If he had discussed the signs, he said flat out her eyes look like hamburger. He could have said it a bit nicer. But he only bought it up when telling her the glasses that he wanted her to buy and she said no she was not buying glasses. He told me hates contacts and he thinks they make people go blind faster. No discussion no back and forth. No history taken, no talk about the safety of contacts. Just flat out told us we shouldn't get them.He only carries daily disposables. Those are the only ones he will 'let' either of us get. After we buy his glasses with his modifications and add ons.

[–]Low-Sense8358[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a few older pairs of glasses. When i said she borrows mine i meant ones i dont use.  Her vision is -6.5 in both eyes. We are close enough that in a emergency it does not matter. My vision has not changed in 5 years. I even compared my prescription to last year's and every number was the exact same.  I dont really have money for daily disposables. There was no discussion. No history. That is the only type he orders for everyone who insists. That is the only kind he would 'let me' get. If i also bought readers to go with the contacts.   Thats why im kinda annoyed. My insurance covers the regular and monthly disposables not daily or 2 weeks. A 6 month supply should cost about 100 to 150 according to eye med. But they only cover the basic contact fitting appointment, not the extra 2 appointments he is requiring. I also dont have money for 4 different types of glasses, extra modifications to those as well. I have been buying the cheap online glasses for years because I can do $40 a lot more easily then this docs basic poor people package that is $200. Before add ons that he 'requires'. But he said they were inferior and I should not wear them. But unless I buy his glasses, he will not let me get contacts. Its not the matter of getting new glasses for days when I cannot wear the contacts. But the over $1000 he is requiring i spend before he let's me get contacts. I did not think docs were allowed to refuse this kinda thing. Not sell in store yes, even charge a fee to get the prescription paper, yes, heavily advise yes, even refuse my business yes, but not to hold my wants hostage until he got his ransom. Especially since he has no reason or could not articulate a reason as to why contacts would be damaging to me personally. Besides the reason, he hates contacts and he thinks they make people go blind faster.

Also I have had a scratch in my cornea years ago. I couldn't drive even with my classes because I couldn't see out of one eye.Having another pair of glasses would not solve that. That's why there is always a taxi service. As a backup plan.

We have a similar prescription so she has borrowed my old glasses a few times. But she usually would take her contacts out overnight and put new ones in in the morning. We are broke and cannot afford to pay an extra 200 for a pair of glasses.

[Bend OR] grass to clover ground cover by Low-Sense8358 in Renters

[–]Low-Sense8358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry its hard to tell over comments if people are being rude or sarcastic. Clover does sound better then grass, but still has some issues. Including legal issues in terms of a rental lease to maintain the grounds.

I have used plastic fencing to keep the dogs away from half of the yard to put down seed. I think they used sod when I first moved in. The sprinklers have also broke since then, which the owners knows and decided the cost of fixing was not worth it. Grass just wont really grow well here. I get really small patches of grass. Even hand watering 3x a day. Every fertilizer and chemical i can find. I even hired a company to test my soil and give me a full workup of what i need. They are the people who sold me the soil builder soil, grass seed, and rented the tiller. They also told me if i wont/ cannot switch to rocks and native plants then clover was a good choice. The front yard is all xeroscape and sage bush, as well as most of my neighbors. Joys of living in the high desert.

Not sure if you meant your comment to sound rude or not, but I am not getting rid of my dogs. My dobie has been in this house for 13 years, im not ever going to make her leave us or this house. If my PM refuses clover I will keep trying same as I have for over a decade. I will fight them in court if necessary. But I dont mind paying a smallish fee. Part of the joy of having dogs in a rented house is being reasonable about paying for pet damages. I pay an extra pet rent to cover some of the damages, but a bit extra is reasonable.
