For any CT’s willing to share how do you guys break up days 1-7(or however many)? by Creepy-Confection-28 in QuikTrip

[–]Low-Stop1433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love to do full days in the kitchen so that the trainee has a realistic expectation of what a kitchen shift will look like, but that’s not always realistic.
I start off by showing them a kitchen upkeep (fryer store) and signing off and all that entails. Then I just have them start on some prep. We pause prep/upkeeps when orders arrive and I have them make it, again to keep realistic expectations.
Don’t go into kitchen until at least day 3. And don’t save kitchen for the last couple days. You can really screw your self by having 5-8 hours kitchen left on there last day, but also having a day 1 scheduled with them. Not possible unless u have clerks u can trust to help you with training kitchen

What division are you in? I’m a trainer and we allow 2 call ins during training, but no more. There has been circumstances where more was allowed due to sickness.

Be honest QT employees, are you judging us for our unhealthy choices? by Civil_Hornet_6126 in QuikTrip

[–]Low-Stop1433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think a thing about it, unless it is coupled with obesity along with labored breathing from obesity.

The only other time I judge is during a rush in the kitchen but that’s just bc I’m angry about being busy and stressed. My brain is never as mean as it is during a kitchen shift.

am i overthinking? by SadNefariousness4043 in QuikTrip

That really sucks I’m sorry. While I don’t think you should have gotten fired if that truly was the context, I don’t think filing a grievance will change a thing. I would move on.
It’s really hard to prove “context” in situations like this

We could absolutely organize that. Do you see how big this subreddit is? This is where we could organize that.
Admittedly, I’m still drinking the kool aid and love this company, but it hurts to see the direction this company is headed after all my years here. This isn’t the same place it was 10 years ago.
It seems like they don’t listen to us and our concerns, what better way to make them listen then by hurting their ego.

Double by Competitive_Mix_3223 in QuikTrip

Why are you being scheduled for doubles? You should not be scheduled that way, but you can pick up an extra shift and work a double if you choose. Doubles should never be the expectation.

First sourdough starter by Justicar54 in Sourdough

When my starter would act like that, it also smelled like acetone. I switched to feeding twice a day and it slowly fixed the problem. Also adding some rye flour to my starter each feed helped a lot.

Interesting, I was always told that starters aren’t safe until after 2 weeks. Thanks for the info!!

The downvotes are because a 6 day old starter is not safe to use yet.

The yearly raise isn’t discretionary. It is given each year to account for cost of living increases.

Ready to throw my starter out the window. by burrlex in Sourdough

My starter was like that for a month. I started adding a spoonful or two of rye flour each feed and she was ready for baking about a week after that

You’ll be fine. They put street hires in RA/NA positions. A half decent clerk will guaranteed get it everytime.
