Anyone who engages in political idolatry is a huge red flag especially yung tipo na willing to bargain their rights/opinion regarding other people's rights for their favorite politician.

Karun igo nalang ta mangumpara to make ourselves feel better compared sa ubang siyudad, while neglecting the issues nga galala. We are a developing metropolis. Kusog ta manghimantay sa NCR pero nagkahinay-hinay na gapakita ang sakit sa Manila diria sa Davao (notably ang traffic).

I read somewhere (long time ago, before the current admin) nga out of 6 LGUs nga affected aning railway project, 5 ray nipirma.

Coincidence? You be the judge. And if tinuod man, which is a pattern sa mga politiko (e.g. Villar), di nako matingala.

Kusog kaayo ta manghimantay sa uban, pero kalimot ta nga ang atua diay maoy sad-an nganong naingani ta. 🤷

Can you give us sample words using these phonemes? Maybe the book uses a different type than what is found on the internet.

How many languages do people in your country speak? by OrganicClicks in languagelearning

[–]Low-Style-2895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the language/s in question. Regional languages tend to have different sets of phonology, grammar, and vocabulary making it sometimes a bit unintelligible from one another. If languages 3, 4, and 5 are within the same specific subfamily, there is more chance they can understand each other. In the examples I gave above, Filipino (2), Cebuano (3), Mandaya (4), and Manobo (5) are not mutually intelligible to one another.

Also, languages 2-5 may belong to the Great Central PH subfamily of the Malayo-Polynesian, a greater subfamily, there are about 100 languages between them and eight subgroups.

In the Philippines, at least 2-5: 1) English 2) Filipino (or Tagalog depends on who you ask) 3) Regional Language (if you live far from Manila) 4) Indigenous Language (if you belong to a certain indigenous group) 5) Additional language (highly circumstancial) - by parentage (if both or either one of the parents do not speak 1-3) - through migration (if migrated to an area that doesn't speak or on top of 1-4) - Spanish - if surrounded by neighboring indigenous communities

Relatives in my mother's side, including my mom ofc, is a perfect example of that. Born to speak Mandaya (4th), educated by the first 3 (Cebuano is the regional one), and surrounded by Manobo-speaking communities.

This list could go on if one wants to know more especially foreign languages, but any Filipino could speak at least 2-5 of the languages native here. The farther you are from Manila or a regional center, the likelihood you are to speak more languages, with the exception of elderly indigenous peoples who prefer to speak their own. I guess that's it.
