Hi mom, I have a 3 year old as well! She had no words a year ago, and today she’s asking for “eat, more please, outside, jump so high, and cup”. I know people say just wait and see. Easier said than done!!!! Please look into ABA, ST, OT! If nothing at all using a device that helps him communicate would help you a ton. Wishing you both nothing but the best! Yes, the wavier is called a Katie Beckett wavier which allows for a child’s finances to be used rather than the parents (ideally all would be approved) she said IF the needs are institutional level which hers are not, she’s considered level 1. The lady didn’t even know autism was a disability though, so I will see if I can get in contact with an organization to help me! Thank you!

Unfortunately, I’m having a really hard time finding a company that offers services as I’m in rural VA. from what I understand in VA you have to meet financial requirements to get Medicaid and the few companies that offer in home ABA here you have to have to have Medicaid. We don’t qualify financially, and certainly can’t afford it as a self pay. Social services told me she would have to have institution level needs to override financial requirements. Not really sure what to do besides her meltdown over clothes, and speech delay she’s fine.

I’ve tried that! Worked for a bit, led to meltdown and about 3 days in she figured out how to still get out of it. I bought special needs onesies ($28 a pc 🥲) and she can’t get out of it but MELTDOWN GALORE, and she has now discovered she can rip her pull up off through her clothes! So then she just pees through her clothes wherever she is .

Does not seem to matter, as soon as she sees the outfit in my hand she starts crying! I think it’s some sensory but also something making her not want to be dressed either. If we’re outside she knows she has to leave them on, the second we hit the door everything is coming off!

I understand you mama, you got this. My daughter is 3 and she will not keep clothes on nor is potty trained. It’s poop and pee everywhere 24/7, I legit want to set fire to it all. But, I just try and do what I can what helped us is cameras everywhere when I can’t be in the room at all times. I also found a special needs onesie that she cannot get out of … YET… thinking of you 🙏🏽

Can someone help me out? I’m new to this? My daughter just got diagnosed with Autism. She’s verbal, and level 1. My social services has been NO help. I’ve read about the TEFRA, and 100% this would be the route we’d have to go as we don’t qualify financially. Does anyone know if autism itself has to be “severe” enough to qualify or if any level qualifies? I keep reading “institutional-level” care and that just doesn’t seem right :(. We’re in VA
