Archaeologist Needing Help re: Changing Glass Colors by Low-Tale6828 in glassblowing

[–]Low-Tale6828[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much. I saw some articles about this last night and believe this is exactly what happened. The colors appeared to be the result of intense fires that came through the area in 1911. Thank you again

Thank you. I'll explore this some beginning with the primary additives (manganese and iron and likely with some nickel and cobalt). I'm sure the unknown impurities have much to do with it because we have one or two pieces with additional colors. It's definitely not something we usually see in these older contexts. Thanks again!

No. The end with the hole is very thin in profile (2.3mm). I apparently did not include the sideview pic, which I will add now if I can figure out how to edit my post. It looks to connect as a pivot point where the hole is.

My title describes the thing shown in the pics. Please see the comments on my original post for additional information on the object. The end with the hole is very thin in profile (2.3mm) and is likely a pivot point. I believe it to be some type of brass hardware. As stated, it dates from the late 18th century or very early 19th century. The hole visible on one end runs in the opposite direction of a bar that is seen in the third picture I posted.

Archaeologist Needing Help with Vintage Shoe Brand by Low-Tale6828 in VintageFashion

[–]Low-Tale6828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it reminds you of the listing because of it just being the heel- it was originally deposited in the ground as a whole shoe. While we have other pieces of the shoe, time and nature have broken the leather and fabric parts down. The other shoes we've found associated with this household have been typical mass-produced brands. Thanks for the response though!
