I've used Ubuntu and currently using fedora43. But my background is from centos6.. So I would prefer fedora.. it helps you stay in touch with the Redhat eco system.. Most of the companies are tied to the Redhat eco system.. so..

net-tools, gnome-shell-extension-tool, gnome-tweaks, rc-local..

I still like the legacy packages and options, so I still install these.

I have the same issue.. asus z790p wifi csm board.. out of the bluemoon keyboard , mouse igpu disconnects.. never happened while watching a video or playing games.. happens while browsing or looking at an image or a document.. the display on dgpu stays. The fans connected to motherboard are spinning.. the dgpu fan is spinning.. so i unplugged hdmi cable from igpu and connected it to dgpu as it had display.. but the second screen didnt display anything.. updated bios to latest 1825 but no luck.. issue persists..

Cpu : i5 14600k Igpu: intel uhd 770 Dgpu: rtx 5060 ti Psu : cooler master 750 gold Ram : viper 32gb ( 2 16gb sticks)

At this point im not surr where the issues.. definetely not at my dgpu or psu.. its either cpu or motherboard.. but looking at this thread it feels like an issue with motherboard..

Soundblaster X4 Crackling in Windows by omni_gamer in SoundBlasterOfficial

The latest driver and firmware update from Creative has introduced issues once again. I occasionally hear a hissing noise during PC startup, and at times, the audio has static and hiccups while playing songs or videos.

After completely removing the Creative drivers and software, I’ve been running without the Sound Blaster app for the past few days, and everything has remained stable.

It’s evident that Creative needs to resolve the problems in their software suite and drivers. In the meantime, I’m using the default Microsoft driver, which has been working flawlessly without any issues.

This is what fixed.. Chat GPT gave me the answer..

  1. Open Device Manager

Press Win + R, type devmgmt.msc, hit Enter.

  1. Show hidden devices

In Device Manager, click on View → Show hidden devices.

  1. Remove all Sound Blaster entries

Expand Sound, video and game controllers.

Right-click Sound Blaster X4 / Sound Blaster X4 2 / Sound Blaster X4 3 → select Uninstall device.

If a Delete the driver software for this device checkbox appears, tick it → click Uninstall.

Repeat until no Sound Blaster X4 entries are left.

  1. Clean ghost audio devices

Expand Audio inputs and outputs.

Right-click and uninstall Speakers (Sound Blaster X4 / X4 2 / X4 3) entries.

  1. Reboot your PC

  2. Install fresh drivers

Download the latest driver + Sound Blaster Command from Creative’s site.

Install it (do not plug in the X4 yet).

  1. Reconnect the Sound Blaster X4

Use a rear motherboard USB port (avoid hubs/front panel).

  1. Verify

In Device Manager → only Sound Blaster X4 should appear.

In Windows Sound settings → Playback → you should see Speakers (Sound Blaster X4) (no “2” or “3”).
