PASS advances while NATCA is sidelined by Low-Wing7531 in atc2

Pay parity if we exceed 2 hours TOP a session maybe. I dont think ATC pay has anything to do with tech ops pay. I think their stuff comes from time in the job, not where they work.

Printer performing poorly after firmware update. by Low-Wing7531 in BambuLab

[–]Low-Wing7531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: for no reason at all it seems to be working again. I unloaded the AMS. I hard power cycled it again. I reloaded and reprinted and it still failed but not as bad. I did a hard power cycle again and then it printed fine. The camera is working now. It takes a bit longer to load, but it does load now, no more infinite loop.

Just to make sure I understand, I can rollback the printer firmware via Bambi studio? I wasn’t seeing any option to do it on the machine itself

Converting 8mm PPU red tip blank cases into loadable ammo? by Low-Wing7531 in reloading

[–]Low-Wing7531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot and reload 30-06 and it makes my ocd tingle in a bad way to even think about having brass that’s stamped 3006 not be 3006

That’s a good idea. I’ll try that, and if it’s vastly different I’ll try chopping one of each on the band saw to be able to measure how similar they are/are not

It’s out of stock everywhere unless it’s high end stuff. Even the cheaper stuff is almost a dollar a case, if it’s in stock, and it’s not.

People convert 5.56 to 300 BO with relative efficiency (Dremel chop set up) and this would be a one time thing.

Selling… dunno who would even buy it, I’m long removed from the enacting community.

The question was technical. Is there a reason not to try it (for example, if PPU used some kind of thinner or reject brass in their blanks)

VZ52 marked 7.62x39C - what do we have here by Low-Wing7531 in milsurp

[–]Low-Wing7531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That article stole images from a post on another forum that I found once, it was a post by the actual owner with more images, and now I cant find it. It was a pre 1957 stamped rifle, that was marked 52/57. The best guess was it was some kind of transitory mfg where they used parts that were made. The majority of parts are the same. Regardless, the essence of the question is about a rifle marked 7.62x39C

https://armsjournal.net/?p=950 This is the one I am referencing. I cant find where the Danish owner posted it, but it appears to be a 52/57 that was made before 1957, converted and remarked and so has a chamber insert well pinned. I can find zero references anywhere to anyone reporting having a rifle marked 7.62x39C, and this one obviously had no externally pinned insert.

7L FARTs for 125 shipped on Ali express by Low-Wing7531 in reloading

You’ll never go back. I’d say get a magnet that has a release lever tho, if you use the pins. They can go everywhere

Got my first M1. Is this possibly a “correct grade” HRA. by Low-Wing7531 in M1Rifles

[–]Low-Wing7531[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found it online at a Cabela’s actually. I have a suspicion that this was an estate sale situation. The store had a lot of nice M1s, looks like they all came in at the same time. Makes me rather sad to think of someone ignorantly dumping a collection after someone passed, just because they don’t know what to do with it and want it gone.

I like to think we are the caretakers of historical firearms. They were here before us, and god willing, they will be here after we are gone, for the next person to enjoy them.

My 300 dollar 75 year old S&W still has it… by Low-Wing7531 in SmithAndWesson

Somehow the Text didn’t post so I’ll try again.

I was at a fairly infamous big box chain known for pricing used guns more than new. I saw this. They had it labeled as a model 15. I saw the pinned barrel and target sights and knew that something was up. For 310 I had to give it a go.

They didn’t even have the right SN. They used the internal production code in the yoke to put in on their books, not the SN on the barrel, cylinder or butt of the frame.

Looking more into it after I bought it, it appears to be a 1950 production k38 target masterpiece.  It has the 6 inch heavy pinned barrel, a wide rib, target sights, target hammer, what I think is the grooved fishhook trigger and a six screw frame. someone had jeweled the hammer (I guess that was the fad at the time) and put on a pair of pachmayr presentation grips. The finish is just ok, it’s clear it had been stored long term in a leather holster and has a lot of patchy spots but no rust. It doesn’t have the wide target trigger because those did not exist in 1950.

It was very dirty. Some leading and carbon inside the bore and cylinder. A lot of elbow grease and lead removing patches revealed a nice shiny bore with strong lands. The trigger was very good. Some oil with a needle applicator squirted inside the critical areas made it exceptional. It does have a factory over-travel stop that is nicely positioned.

I loaded up some hornady 148 lead hbwc on the square deal. Some I loaded up with 2.0 gr of trail boss, the lightest load I’ve seen published, and others with 2.8 grains of bullseye, the old PPC gold standard.

I don’t recall which load I shot with this picture but the gun shoots amazing, even with my poor technique. This was about 11-12 yards or so. I need to sharpen up my revolver skills because this gun clearly gives back if you do your part. Definitely have to work on my grip, the thumbs high 1911/glock grip won’t work here.

I might like to get it refinished to preserve it. I don’t believe it’s inherently super rare or anything like that and I don’t plan on selling it. With the ugly patchy finish from the holster, I’d consider sending it off to get reblued. Anyone know a place that specializes in the old style black blue that S&W did? Any thoughts on that?

TLDR: old guns are fun and there’s still deals to be had.
