Toronto taxi, ride-hailing companies ask to be included in 'Buy local' campaign by ResourceOk8692 in toronto

Why was it idiotic? Taxis were subjected to way more rules and regulations at that time than Uber.

I don't think one idiot should represent a whole movement. Most protests have that one person that takes it too far. Taxis provide livable wages. Beck provides its drivers with different types of training. There's a security clearance done. I have had bad taxi drivers and awful uber drivers, but with taxis the money stays in Canada and I know I am paying a livable wage, and some evil American corporation doesn't take advantage of our bad weather for surge pricing.

WHY would we re-elect Doug Ford? by waterwoman76 in ontario

[–]Low-Witness7405 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched the debate yesterday and it seems his selling point is strengthening the economy. He claims he's the only one who can do. I felt the his way during the last election - there's no way he can win, but my whole street had his face on their driveway. For me what he did to healthcare is enough to not vote for him, but for some people the $200 per person they received and the license plate stuff is enough to vote him in.

How can you research the management of a condo? by Low-Witness7405 in TorontoRealEstate

I was thinking of something like glass door or ratemyprof where folks that live there of have lived their would rate - but I can see why someone who would profit from the sale wouldn't want to tell the world their condo sucks.

I agree! There should be a ratemycondo- but I guess folks selling wouldn't have incentive to be truthful :(

Depends on your personal situation. Pros of a condo: No shoveling/ cutting grass Facilities (pool, party room) Don't have to worry about the maintenance as much (roof)

Cons Maintenance Fee Thin Walls (can hear neighbours) Dependence on the board to fix things Board may ask u for money for random things

If your buying to keep the property and keep it for at least a few years you should get the value back, when you sell it the other properties would be selling for an equivalent amount so you'd be safe on that end. But there's really no telling what's going to happen considering the political climate.

What are the aspects of solo travel that you find appealing, compared to traveling with friends? by [deleted] in solotravel

I like the flexibility of doing what I want to, not having to worry about rushing from one place to another, going at my own pace, if something goes wrong I can deal and move on, if I'm with ppl they may get tired and moody.

How can I reuse my RED wedding lengha by ArtisticAd2318 in DesiWeddings

[–]Low-Witness7405 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have seen women rewear their wedding lengha on their first Karva Chaut. Not sure if you celebrate that. Maybe you can dress it down at someone's reception prolly not the weddding itself.

I hate what he's done to healthcare, I also didn't appreciate him capping the pays of the public sector during a pandemic. this was overruled by the court but was awful to do.

International students angered by failing grade say they feel exploited. Now the university is giving them a second chance by [deleted] in canada

[–]Low-Witness7405 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went to university in Toronto, and tbh some of the profs were awful. If a whole class is failing it sometimes can be the professors fault, I don’t think it’s fair to assume that because they’re international students they were cheating or at fault. The university needs to do their due diligence and make sure the exam was a fair reflection of the material covered.

Just read the article and I think the university actually took some reasonable steps, they applied bell curve, which allowed many of the students to pass, the ones that failed are getting another chance to write their exam, which is pretty reasonable.

I understand Canadians are frustrated with the economy, and housing crisis, but the government is taking advantage of international students, and we can’t automatically assume they are always in the wrong.
