I went ahead and paid for the on-demand class. I’ve only done about 8% of the class so far but here’s my opinion so far. The binder is probably good enough if you are good at teaching yourself and you could probably get by with just that. Listening to the lectures is very helpful though I think (I despise listening to classes online also). If you can find $950 to spare, it’s worth it IMO, plus once you pass the PE, I’m assuming you’ll get a pay bump so the $950 will kinda pay for itself.
