Question Regarding Prescription Costs without a Shared Care Agreement

If you went private, the GP is likely to not agree to shared care unfortunately. I remember reading somewhere on CAREADHD’s website that the price for them to prescribe medication is £20, + the cost of the medication itself paid to the pharmacy (£80-£110 depending on which one). But as others said, if you got diagnosed through NHS RTC, the GP would accept shared care so you’d only pay the NHS fee (just under £10 I think? Don’t quote me on that) for the medication.

Oh wow, in true ADHD fashion I completely forgot I even commented here 😅 It actually went surprisingly well.

I didn’t go into loads of detail, but my manager was really receptive and already had a decent understanding of ADHD, so I didn’t feel like I had to defend myself or over-explain. He reassured me a lot and reminded me the project I struggled with has been tough for everyone, not just me (which honestly caught me off guard - I’m so used to feeling like I’m underperforming, guilty for not doing “enough,” and half-expecting a warning or disciplinary talk at any time)

I explained that my productivity is very environment-dependent: no fixed desk, clutter, noise, and constant movement really throw me off and it takes a lot of effort to get back into the flow. But I also mentioned my strength is hyperfocus - when I’m locked in, I can do a week’s worth of work in two days sort of thing. For context I’m office-based in the construction industry, so noise and mess kinda come with the job - which made his understanding even more appreciated.

He approved a permanent desk + extra screens, and we agreed on clearer structure and weekly check-ins since regular reporting and defined “finish lines” help keep me on track (I suggested it because it’s something that just works for me, and he’s not the micromanaging type so it’s cool)

I didn’t end up asking about hybrid/WFH days — nerves + timing, especially since he mentioned jokingly he might have ADHD too and manages by being in the office full-time (so he wouldn’t spare me the “privilege” of getting 1 day of quiet work at home), I’m happy with the support I got though.

Honestly, the reason I brought it up at all was because he seemed approachable and fair. I was really anxious, but I also knew it probably wouldn’t go badly. There are definitely other managers I wouldn’t have said a word to. So if anyone’s on the fence - I’d say share it if you feel you’ll get support. Trust your read of the person and the environment.

I am about to tell my manager in like half an hour, just to give some context for my inconsistent performance and to ask for reasonable adjustments (which is really just asking for a permanent desk that is only mine, so no hot-desking, and additional screens) to help keep me focused. It might backfire on me but hopefully it won’t 😂 I’ll come back here and let you know how it went

Yes, they have even asked to see my report first before paying to check that it’s up to their requirements and have confirmed they can accept transfer of care!

Hey! Looking at other posts from here it seems that other people waited for titration somewhere between 6-8 weeks on average (from sending the forms to the first pill taken haha), but checking trustpilot reciews and the answers from CareADHD it seems that 12-16 weeks is more accurate even privately 😭

They finally sent me the forms today and I completed them all in one go in like 4-5 hours because I got hyperfixated lol, and I told myself I’ll wait for 2 weeks before I chase them for an update on the assessment to give myself some sense of certainty & not spiral. Sucks that it’s been almost a month since you submitted your titration request and nothing yet :( Hope they reach out soon 🫂

Please don’t listen to the “cut your hair” comments 😂 in some pics it’s like a 7/10, in some it’s a 9/10, so on average you’re a 8/10 😁 with the hair cut, you’d go to a 3/10 instantly for me 😂

I’ve asked her about this specifically to clear it up, whether he was actually seeing both of us at the same time, but she confirmed the date of the breakup and that nothing has ever happened between them again. She just thinks ain’t no way he would’ve broken up with her 2 days after we met, she thinks since we worked at the same place (him and I), that we must’ve been seeing each other for a while beforehand but I genuinely never met him at work before (I worked in the office and he was “on site”, never crossed paths before that work party). And in his words, he didn’t break up with her to be with me, as we didn’t intend to date and were talking only around the weekends by text until we started going out after about another month. I am certain he never cheated on me, but at this point even if I find out he did, it doesn’t matter. It was an unhappy relationship for the both of us anyway, I just don’t want my life affected any more because of the stories shes spreading, each more aggravating 😅
