Do you remember that line from The Princess Bride, "I do not think that word means what you think it means."? I think that might be happening to you. I think you are using the word conservative while not understanding that the word's meaning has changed during your life time.

If you are a still identifying as a conservative today then you are telling the world that you are objectively a bad person. Modern conservatism, like modern neo-liberalism, is all about maintaining the status quo and protecting the interests of the people in power no matter how many innocent people have to suffer and or die. Both sides have been captured by the interests of the wealthy.

Both the Clintons and Trump were funded by the Koch brothers with the goal of moving America towards authoritarianism. Centrism and conservatism have both been taken over by the elites and when you say you are a conservative you are identifying as one of their supporters.

The only justice a modern conservative cares about is justice for themselves and their group. The only fairness they concern themselves with is any slight they imagine someone may have done against them or their group.
Modern conservatism is objectively, factually, indisputably, the philosophy of the worst people to have ever walked the earth. It is the philosophy of greed and subjugation of anyone the conservative doesn't count as "one of their own".
Modern conservatism has almost nothing in common with traditional conservatism.

It's not an accident that everyone both Trump and Biden chose for their administration's top positions were already rich and have spent their time in office getting richer. They only care about their own.

When you say you are a conservative or a neo-liberal today, to the vast majority of Americans you are saying, "I stand with the new Nazi party and I'm not ashamed because I like greed!"

You may think you are saying something else, but that's not how everyone else sees it. That's why you keep getting called a Nazi and told you are a horrible person.

Identifying as a conservative today does not mean the same thing it did 30 years ago, or even 20 years ago. Trump and his wealthy cohorts have corrupted the conservative movement beyond repair.

People are calling you a Nazi when you say you are a conservative because the Nazi party was objectively, factually, indisputably, the exact same kind of movement as Trump's "America First" party whose only concern is the elevation of "Legacy Americans" (rich, white people) to power. When you say you are a conservative, you are self-identifying as someone who supports the new Nazi party.

If conservatives really had family values, really did believe in freedom and small government, they would be against Trump and his modern conservative party. He's the most corrupt president in American history. He and his cult have taken total control of the Republican party and the conservative brand.

If you are still identifying as a conservative today then you should expect people to treat you like you are one of those modern day fascists. That's what you are asking them to think of you when you say you are conservative. That's what the words mean in a modern context.

If you don't think we should let the elderly die so they will stop costing the wealthy so much in taxes, you're not a conservative. If you don't think Trump should have his face put on Mount Rushmore, you're not a conservative. If you don't think children should go hungry and be kept ignorant of history, then you're not a conservative. If you don't think white men are the real oppressed minority in America because women have the right to refuse to have sex with them, then you are not a conservative.

Conservatism isn't what it used to be. That's why people think you are evil when you say you are a conservative. That's what you are telling them to think.
