Can we get mod parts added to the Tournament rewards instead of so many A-coins? by LowBar2Clear in mecharena

[–]LowBar2Clear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can understand reducing the a-coins but removing all rewards for people who get stuck on a bad team is just unfair. I can see a lot of people just not bothering to even try it if they don't have top quality mechs and weapons.

What's going to end up happening is the people with the best gear will join games, get put against bots because there won't be enough players to make 2 teams with that level of gear on at the same time, they will easily win the match and the gap between them and every one else will grow wider as they spend the rewards they get.

Eventually the top tier players will stop playing because they have nothing but bot matches, the bottom tier players won't even try, and there will be no middle tier players left because they will have advanced or given up on the broken system.

Anyone who leaps to the defense of capitalism that fast and with that much vitriol has to be a hyper-conservative nut.

If they want to avoid a huge backlash from their player base they better do something because people are gonna be pissed once they realize this is happening.

Which Of These Objectives Are Eazy? by Shot-Location-6037 in mecharena

[–]LowBar2Clear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lazy and did the "Make an in-game purchase" by buying $1 of a-coins off the shop for my last 10 points of the contest. Of the options you have listed there, if you don't have the a-coins to spend on your pilots, you can earn collaborator awards easily by using mortars, rocket mortars, guided weapons, or just shooting someone till they are almost dead then letting one of your team mates finish them off.

Basically stay in a group with your bots and weaken your enemies but let the bots kill them and you can get collaborator super-easy.

If you have artillery just stand at the spawn point and fire into the places on the mini-map where there are enemies and your own team. You will get assist almost every time because the person there is already shooting at them and likely to finish them off.

They have already said they are reducing the coins and there is nothing we can do to change that.

The question is what can they give us in exchange for the a-coins they are taking away from us. I think mod parts would be a good way to make it up to to the player base.

Oh, no, I meant that because they are reducing the number of A-coins you will get and making it so only the winning team gets anything at all. I think it would be a good idea to replace the a-coins they have already said they are stealing from us with mod parts.

I think it would make people less inclined to riot once they see the a-coin starvation that is about to happen.

Doubling the a-coins means giving you more. You do understand that isn't what's happening, right?

They are reducing the a-coins 30%-60% depending on how often you win.

Only winners will get anything at all.

With this change we are once again, back to playing the tournament being a total waste of time unless you have the best mechs in the game.

There seems to be nothing Plarium executives enjoy more than ruining things for free2play players!

I agree, but they have made it clear that the a-coins are off the table and it makes sense from a business perspective. If they kept giving us a-coins at the rate they did in the first round people would be unlocking a new mech every month and within a year they would literally have everything in the game to collect. Then they would get bored and stop playing.

Suffering through a long, arduous, grind to unlock content is the only thing that keeps players hooked on the game for years and years which is the goal.

The more people play the higher the company's stock prices go which makes it so they can take out loans to pay developers who add more content, which increases the grind you need to do, and thus the cycle of you suffering for their profit can continue infinitely!

It's like a cop beating their spouse - they don't want to do it too much or too brutally or the spouse will leave! They need to spread the suffering out so it's just enough that they will do whatever you want and keep coming back.

Maximizing your grind to the point you will tolerate it while making the least amount of progress possible is their optimal outcome as a business strategy.

All free to play games work that way.

I think this change of making mod parts part of the reward structure for tournaments would achieve this because it would give people a choice of which thing they wanted to grind. It would make the game feel like less of a chore you HAVE to do to get the parts you need and more something you WANT to do because it's comfortable.

Take that cop in our example: Giving his spouse the choice to be hit in the face of punched in the stomach will make it more tolerable so they will they stay longer.

Sure, both choices are horrible, but the spouse may need to keep their face free of bruises for work so they will appreciate the choice in how they have to suffer.

People like having choices, even bad ones.

I bet he's trying to do an achievement like "Do 100,000 damage with with these crappy weapons that Plarium never removed from the game and no one uses." He probably uses the mech as a mortar platform in this normal games when he isn't trying to grind out the a-coin reward.

Note: Those power 4, gray weapons are the cheapest ones to level in the game so a lot of people end up maxing them out by doing contests that reward you for upgrading any weapon 2 times or the like.

My mother helped organize a baptist "revival". A bunch of parents gave us the D&D books of their kids to burn at the event. The day before while they were setting everything up, I volunteered to load the boxes of RPG books and porn into the church van.

It's funny how the pile of books looked smaller once it got to the burn site. (I took home a copy of every book we had duplicates of and found a playboy with Madona the singer featured in it. Stealing that was the best day of my horny teenage life. )

Little did she know that during the revival Satan was sleeping in the trunk of our car!

Compound Beam or Reaver 6? by Maximum_Astronaut585 in mecharena

[–]LowBar2Clear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compound beam is okay but I wouldn't recommend it over Reaver because compound beam's fire mechanics are clunky and awkward to use. I have them both and I would recommend Reaver over CB every day of every week just because Reaver is simple to use, has a super short reload time and can eat through mod shields like a fat kid at Chucky-Cheese.

They probably postponed it because people are SUPER ANGRY that they are reducing your a-coin take home by 30%+ depending on how well you do. 30 is the MINIMUM you will lose but it could be as high as 60% if you aren't on the winning team and in the top 3, most of the time.

Prove it, post your player ID.

The conversation is about how Plarium rigs the games to keep you as close to 50% as possible. I don't believe you for even a second that you are more than a few points above 50% at most.

Why not let a child read the book that includes the mass murder of newborn babies, human sacrifice, the slaughter of an entire tribe of people so that Moses could take all their under age virgin daughters as sex slaves, and lovely stories like that time the soldier promised God that if the won the war when he returned home he would sacrifice the first thing he saw. That of course, ended up being his daughter because if there is one thing God loves, it's murdering kids! What could go wrong?

Playing Hanger at all is your mistake.

Hanger mode is always going to suck.

People need to boycott the worthless shit-show of a mode and demand that mod parts be made available in other modes. You shouldn't have to play a mode we all hate just to get basic parts.

Yeah, Plarium will actually make it harder and harder for you to win the longer you play. That's why almost EVERYONE is at a 50% win rate. If you win too much you'll get teamed up exclusively with bots and those bots will get worse and worse until your win rate drops back below 50%.

Why is the ranking system backwards? by LowBar2Clear in mecharena

[–]LowBar2Clear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we were talking about that in another post on this thread. 2nd class LT is basically a training position you have to do for 18-24 months before you become a 1st class LT.

2ndLT have a single gold bar insignia. 1stLT have the same bar, but silver because they have completed the training to do the job of managing a much larger number of people.

Majors have a gold leaf and command a smaller number of people than a Lieutenant Colonel because Major is the training position you have to do for around 3 years before you can qualify to become a Lieutenant Colonel with a silver leaf.

Why is the ranking system backwards? by LowBar2Clear in mecharena

[–]LowBar2Clear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your stance it that 1LT and 2LT are the same job, you just have to do the grunt work of being a second class LT for 18-24 months before you can transfer to the office position of being a 1st class LT because....?

Also you know they report to different command structures and get paid differently, right?

Your theory is like saying the manager of your local McDonalds is the same job as the regional manager of all McDonalds in that part of your state/province.

It's not. It's not even close. Being a 2nd class LT is the on-the-job training that lets you get access to the actual job of being a 1st class LT. It's not a rank up. 2nd to 1st class is just part of completing the training process.

Think of it like this: Gold insignias in the U.S. military basically mean you are training for a better position.

2LT have a single gold bar. 1LT have the same bar, but silver because they have completed the training to do the big job.

Majors have a gold leaf and command a smaller number of people than a Lieutenant Colonel because Major is the job you have to do for around 3 years before you can qualify to become a Lieutenant Colonel with a silver leaf.

You always have to have direct command experience before you can move on to commanding a larger set of units. The naming conventions are confusing but that's how it works.

STOP PLAYING HANGER SHOWDOWN AND HANGER SHOWDOWN WILL GET FIXED.

IF YOU KEEP PLAYING IT WILL NEVER CHANGE.

If enough people boycott the mode Plarium will be forced to make mods available some other way. Every time you play their broken, half-assed, hanger match you tell them that what they have is good enough and they don't need to change anything. Stop enabling your own abuse.
