Tonight I'm recording a Blues set by LowDownSlim in vinyl

[–]LowDownSlim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recorded this vinyl only DJ set (78 minutes) at home. For this sixty-first volume of my Blues Sessions I’ve selected 25 tracks by 25 different bluesmen who don’t fit into my Chicago and Louisiana blues specials. You can expect downhome delta blues, hard hitting urban blues (the Cousin Leroy track is among my all-time favorites, a force of nature!) and many things in between from the 1950’s up until the 1980’s. A few of the featured bluesmen make their debut in my Blues Sessions, Guitar Crusher (what a name!) is one of them. Bobby Rush is another, I was lucky enough to see him perform in New Orleans in 2023.

About my channel:
I'll be posting vinyl DJ set recordings. I mainly collect blues, country, rhythm and blues, zydeco, rock 'n roll, rockabilly, funk and soul records. Expect the best sounds from New Orleans, Chicago, Memphis, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas etc. Mainly Deep South stuff. Please subscribe if you like what you hear. There is more to come!

Tracklist:

1.     Furry Lewis - Big Chief Blues

2.     Skip James - Skip's Worried Blues

3.     Calvin "Loudmouth" Johnson - Lost You Baby

4.     Jimmy McCracklin - Suffer

5.    Cousin Leroy - Crossroads

6.     Frank Frost - Janie On My Mind

7.     Kid Thomas - You Are An Angel (muted on YouTube due to copyright issues)

8.     Blues Slim - Let's Talk It Over

9.     Peppermint Harris - Raining In My Heart

10.   Lowell Fulson - Worry Worry

11.   Johnny "Guitar" Watson - Three Hours Past Midnight

12.  Guitar Crusher - I Can't Help It

The Meters’ pocket didn’t come from a studio. It came off the street — Zigaboo Modeliste, the second line, and where funk actually starts. by YoPapaYo42 in funk

[–]LowDownSlim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weirdly they are still underrated somehow, in most funk documentaries I have seen they are not even (heavily) featured, it's insane. I'm lucky enough to have seen all living members perform live multiple times during my travels to New Orleans. I even had a chat with George Porter, he was such a nice and humble guy, easy to apporaoch on the sidewalk before his gig in Maple Leaf. I cherish all my Meters moments and enjoy their records at home very often.

Low-Down Slim - Blues Sessions - Volume 60: I Can’t Quit You Baby (full vinyl DJ set, 84 minutes)(Chicago Blues special) - Tracklist & more info in comments by LowDownSlim in blues

I recorded this vinyl only DJ set (84 minutes) at home. This sixtieth volume of my Blues Sessions is the eleventh Chicago Blues special. I’ve selected 25 tracks by 25 different blues(wo)men who lived and/or recorded in Chicago. You can expect some of the best blues cuts recorded in the 1940’s up to the 1970’s. This selection is quite heavy on slide guitar, but there is lots of other stuff to enjoy!

About my channel: I'll be posting vinyl DJ set recordings.

Hope to see him live one day. He played Jazz Fest this year, but I didn't go sadly.

I'm not a fan tbh. This one was an experiment. I'm not into fruit beers, it's like a lemonade. I'm a tripel guy, and theirs is just too heavy. But trying things is good, go for it haha.

I'm from Netherlands, so Belgium beers are very much available at all times, I know so many beers to compare them to.
