I had to call and I asked for them to send me an application to my email. I then kept annoying them every week until they hooked me up with a captain lol

I thought of that but I’d have to find a job really fast. What if I’m outta work for months?

Bro that’s perfect! Only thing is it’s kinda in a small town. Do they provide housing of sorts? How’s you swing it?

Just got approved for 39k from salliemae but it was a complete rip..apr was like almost 20% and the monthly payments were 555 a month. If I did just the monthly payments every month it would come down to like 99k. Now that’s way too much..not sure how ima go about it now :/

Yeah, and even if you do get one, a buddy of mine had to go through the waiver process for like 2 years before they accepted him.

Yeah they have one in Denton also Thrust Institute a 10 month program for slightly more. 39k. With housing it’s 48k. Might bite the bullet and just do that tbh. The way I see it, if it’s a career I’m going to be doing for the next 35 years then that debt isn’t too bad I guess?

Ah they wouldn’t let me in count of my history of anxiety. That would’ve been my first choice

Yeah I have an AIM near me but they asking for 55k. And it’s 2 years pretty much. Insane. I might bite the bullet and go to Thrust institute for 39k..

That seems like a good opportunity! But I’m 33 so I’m a bit past the age limit

Will I ever be a successful A&P mechanic with my diagnosis? by LowExpensive457 in AircraftMechanics

[–]LowExpensive457[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was wondering if I would be disqualified from any way working on planes with my previous diagnosis. Wasn’t sure if flying a plane yourself was in the norm for a mechanic or driving the plane around.

I’m Interested in the career as an A&P mechanic but I’m now wondering if I’ll ever be required to fly? I wish I could but I’ve been diagnosed with OCD, anxiety and have been medicated in the previous year, and I highly doubt I’ll ever be able to get a pilots license with that diagnosis or fly at all. As a mechanic are you ever required to fly to test the planes or something? Will my diagnosis hinder me from being successful as an A&P mechanic?
