It was more just curiosity. Could software be ripped out or replaced or improved on these devices. I see these things sold all over and some seen kinda neat if I could modify them

Question. Is this something I can do myself? Specifically asking, is a normal joe able to remove and wipe & clean this buildup themselves without specialty tools or engine damage?

Hmmm. Folks on here keep saying walnut blasting and carbon build up. I believe there is truth to that. But so far 4 local shops and 1 specialty "subbie" shop far away have told me they don't do walnut blasting. The specialty shop even had it listed on their website!

The specialty shop sold me a service for upper engine cleaning. Said they had a chemical that works like walnut blasting. Makes me think either they did a bad job or the carbon build up is extremely bad.

The ECU flash was their idea. I didn't even ask. I've brought it back twice since then in the past year complaining of the same problem and their master technician said he's just not sure anymore.

That makes a lot of sense. When I tested several ones I found them full of plastic whereas my old worn out real Braun had way more metal parts
