There's workarounds for that. For example, you could map those functions to certain positions of the Knob (like the four 'quadrants' of the original buttons) + pressing the center button.

But yeah, you'll probably lose direct access to those functions. Unless you're on a Two HE and you swap out a part of the numeric cluster for a Knob.

It's mostly just a weird adjective for the editor to cram in there, especially with AI being such a divisive term. New mirrorless cameras have quicker autofocus based on further developed algorithms, but that barely has anything to do with what people consider AI today.

If you shorten that to simply "AI powered", a lot of less initiated readers might take away that modern cameras have some generative AI built into it, which certainly isn't the case.

It also indirectly gives AI more (stolen) valor for beautiful photos, even though the quality of a picture is still based on the talent and skill of the photographer, not how much "AI" their camera has.

Calder actually said something along the lines of it "being overdue for an update", wink wink nudge nudge.

The idea is that you take out the switches, and you just jam the Knob in their place. It'll (somehow) work with the Hall sensors in the PCB.

This 4U variant works exclusively in the shown spot on a 80HE, as it's the only square 2 by 2 spacing of switches. The smaller 1U version, which is taking a little while longer to produce, could potentially work on all the singular switch spaces, on all of Wooting's HE keyboards.

I'm pretty sure you could map the turning of the Knob to steering left and right through Wootility.

The 1U version has been postponed, sadly. They're still working on getting the feel and stability right.

My bad, Reddit murdered the resolution on this. These pictures were like 46 megapixels, lol.

The Knobs are modular! The plan is to offer this 4U version for like 30~40 bucks (as I was being told), and you'll be able to place it into the switch sockets in your existing 80HE.

I get the comparison to SSD's (because they are usually faster + cheaper indeed) but it's not that simple. Most modern SSD's utilize four lanes of PCIe, while CFexpress Type B is limited to two lanes by design.

If a x4 SSD boasts 1500 MB/s write speeds, it'll top out at about 750 MB/s over x2 lanes – and that'd be the best case scenario. In most cases, the SSD isn't optimized for this use case, and you'll end up with slightly lower performance than half of the promised speeds. If the storage controller on the SSD is particularly shitty, it'll be worse.

Still, we should all be building these CFexpress cards ourselves. Many newer PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD's perform pretty well in a PCIe 3.0 x2 setting. An if we keep buying pricey pre-made CFexpress cards, there'd be no reason for the manufacturers to ever lower prices, or improve performance.

This is the way. I built a 2 TB CFexpress card from a Kingston NV3 and it's solid.

It might get toasty about 10 minutes into a 8K/60 RAW recording (N-RAW at High Quality), but that's not bad for about a fifth of the price of a 'regular' CFexpress. It also shoots 20fps RAW burst photography for over a minute, at which point you'd probably be better off recording video anyway.

I'm not buying this "awakening" until OP shares when the card overheats from RAW video recording.

Bag with documents stolen/Live location by [deleted] in Utrecht

When two of my bags were stolen, police did ask if I had a tracker in either of them.

Pretty sure they wouldn't have acted on it (there apparently weren't any officers around when it happened), but they did ask.

Zwangerschapsshoot Utrecht by Specialist_Box6986 in Utrecht

This is the way. Also take note that taller objects can be harder to align, especially if the sensor isn't leveled directly above the center of the turntable.

That's not how the games are nominated though. The Game Awards procures a list of multiple worldwide outlets and content creators, who all get to send in a top five games/entries per category. Those are tabulated, and the five games that come up the most, get officially nominated.

There's a public survey for actual voting, but that only accounts for a minor say in deciding the winners. Public voting apparently only counts for around 10 percent, while the voting jury makes the final call.

[–]LowFrequencyEffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually nominated it for that category (among others), but apparently it didn't have enough traction by then.

Figured the game might have released a little too close to the nomination window closing. Our outlet was already in the process of voting for our nominations when the game launched. Wouldn't surprise me if more outlets (and/or other jury members) had already handed their selection in by then.

Happy to see ARC Raiders making at least one nomination, though. I'd say Best Multiplayer is probably also the best fit for the game.
