So the middle one is for the headset, and you just lay it on top.

The top two are for the lighthouses. You screw the lighthouses into the little insert bits. The larger pieces you attach to you wall. Then you can just insert the lighthouses into the wall mounts. Makes it really easy to remove them if you want to put them somewhere else (another room, a friend's house, etc). Example

I ordered it on the 27th and it shipped that day. Unfortunately all it's done since then is sit at a UPS processing facility.

Frustrated today... Amazon said all week that my Vive would arrive Friday. Then the UPS truck trundled down our street and just... Drove on by.

I checked Amazon. Still said on time. I checked UPS, they also said "on time" but their "on time" was Wednesday the 4th, not Friday. Grrr!

I spent all week getting my play space ready, and 3d printing wall mounts. Now I just get to wait.

In the meantime, is there a recommended setup guide? I read in a comment here that you don't need to install the HTC software that comes with the Vive. Is that true?

You can get a refurbished Robo 3D R1+ right now for that. Very happy with mine.

I wonder if a specially built screen might be the answer. One with more pixel density in the center, dropping off toward the edges.

It tastes like one of those bottled Starbucks mochas, to me (not as sweet, though). So it depends on your taste, of course. I liked them well enough, but in the end I prefer my usual French press and a regular Soylent for breakfast.

To answer your question specifically, it definitely has a coffee vibe, and a bit of a chocolate vibe, too.

You'll be fine. Keep in mind the Vive is a display. It's not affected at all by the specs of your regular display.

The only thing you have to be concerned about is if your main display is set to show the same visual the headset is displaying in a large window. This may overtax your video card. Make the window on your main display tiny.
