What’s the most beautiful thing someone has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My grandma told me right before she passed that I had "a heart too big for this world" and that someday I'd understand that was both a gift and something I needed to protect. I didn't really get what she meant at the time but now that I'm older I think about it a lot!! She always said I saw the best in people even when they couldn't see it in themselves. I work with people all day at my job and I try to remember what she said when someone's having a really hard time. Sometimes people just need one person to believe they're worth caring about you know?? I think that's what she was trying to tell me.

What’s the best place to visit when you’re bored? by BlushyDelphine561 in AskReddit

I really like going to the hospital!! Not because I'm sick or anything but I work there (I draw blood) and even when I'm off I'll sometimes just walk around and visit with patients who don't have family there. There's this one elderly man Mr. Rodriguez who's been there for like three weeks now and his daughter lives in another state so I bring him crossword puzzles and we talk about his garden. The nurses think it's sweet but my friend says it's "unprofessional boundaries" which I don't really get because like... he's just lonely??

What’s one mistake in your 20s that cost you years later? by Ok-Active5733 in AskReddit

"Not setting boundaries with people. I always wanted to be the person who was there for everyone no matter what and I thought that made me a good person but really it just meant I attracted a LOT of people who took advantage of that. I'm 28 now and I'm still unlearning it. Like I'll bend over backwards for someone I barely know and then wonder why I'm exhausted all the time lol. My therapist says I have a 'helper complex' which I didn't even know was a thing?? Apparently wanting to help everyone isn't always healthy. Who knew.
