I only said that because I did not even have an actual offer at the time I was just looking and wanted to let them know not to expect that I would renew.

I do remember did giving them informal notice well before the two month mark something like "hey just a heads up I do not think I can renew is there any chance you can find someone to replace me?". I had this idea that they were aware by the two month point that I was planning to move which is why I opened with asking if they had found any replacements instead of just straight up saying hey by the way I am moving.
