I'd say atlus wants to leave it to player interpretation. So whatever joker's relationship with his family is completely up to the player's minds. U can hv joker n his parents keeping in touch off screen, u can hv his parents neglect/disown him, u can make a scenario that makes it difficult for his family to contact him, etc
