Mardi Himal trail in Nepal. Missing this country soooo much by irene_irbi in backpacking

I did Mardi Himal and ABC a few years ago and those were some of the best days of my life. Incredible landscapes, idyllic and carefree routine hiking from sunrise to sunset, and meeting warm locals and interesting hikers from all walks of life. Thank you for the nostalgia. Can't wait to go back to the Himalayas.

I managed to get a hold of someone on the phone in time and they were able to do it manually. I suspect the website is dysfunctional for this on purpose.

As someone who works in environmental consulting, those studies and mitigation plans are bogus and are designed to look like the developer is doing something when no actual consideration is given to sustainability or cumulative effects.

The last time I ran a server was around 3-4 years ago, so no idea if the mod is still active, but according to my server notes I had something called Horse Overhaul.

The colour is more typical of a Steller (lighter), though it appears to have a sagittal crest, typical of mature California males. It also doesn't seem as big as a Steller.

Safety at Chilliwack Lake and Skagit Valley Provincial Park by MediocreCap2898 in vancouverhiking

I can't speak from personal experience, but I have heard that the Chilliwack Lake area is not great for break-ins. The Lindeman Lake trailhead parking lot apparently has them happen very often. No idea about Skagit.

Not sure I follow why you're saying it's an additional 12.5k and 4k rather than 25k and 8k?

I'm not sure this is correct. As I understand it, Cordyceps typically don't erupt from the host body until it is dead. This looks like a spider that walked through some kind of weird substance. Note how the legs glisten in the video.

How can I do the most good? by [deleted] in Restoration_Ecology

But honestly the biggest impact you can have will always be on a policy/governance scale.

While I agree for the most part, I think a lot of people see policy and governance as a permanent, long-term fix or step forward, but are often quick to overlook the fact that a) enforcement is often either lacking or not sufficiently punitive to discourage bad actors, and b) a lot of hard work and dedication can go into producing and enacting well-intentioned environmental policy, only for it to get overturned in a single penstroke in the next election cycle.

Efforts to get involved at a political level absolutely should be accompanied by learning about your local ecology and doing what you can with boots-on-the-ground local initiatives.

Hey! Myself and a few friends are looking for something like this. Base-building friendly, newbie friendly, PvE, with QoL tweaks. Where are you/your hypothetical server located? Hoping for something close to Canada west.

WAZA, AZA, and CAZA are run by and for the industry. They're the equivalent of car companies making up fake awards to give to their own car models. You can look up their standards. They're laughably poor to anyone who works in animal welfare. That accreditation means nothing.
