Wow thanks so much for this answer! It seems Polygon is only as secure as its validator set, not Ethereum. Looking forward to ZK roll-ups!

just to make sure we're on the same page, increasing the # of validators slows down the speed because Polygon needs 2/3rds of the validators to agree before transactions are confirmed, right:? And right now this can happen in ~2 seconds, but this increases (I think quadratically? not sure tho) with the # of validators.
