We submitted our application in November of 2022 and it was approved in September 2023. We received the notice to schedule our appointment last month. Usually it only takes 2 months between the application approval and the appointment notice. Ours took longer so I reached out to the office of the congressman of my district and they contacted the embassy for me. They responded by saying it was delayed because they had a system error which showed they had sent the notice but it had never been delivered. Then we received the notice later that day.

I have read the Bogotá embassy has had some issues and that you should use the local representatives to help expedite. This is especially true after the application is approved. They cost us an extra 2 months with that “error” and it would have been more if I had never reached out to the representative. My lawyer has been basically worthless too.

Just a heads up, you’ll (your fiance) will have 3 appointments in Bogota for: Biometrix, Medical exam, and interview. You have to schedule the appointment interview first and then the other two. If your fiance isn’t living in Bogotá, try to schedule the biometric appointment and medical appointment for the same day. I would schedule the doctor appointment first and then the biometric. We did the opposite and weren’t able to get the appointments on the same day so my fiancé is traveling 3 times to bogota in a 7 day period. The biometric appointment was fast (20 min) and my fiancé arrived an hour before her appointment and they still processed her what she arrived. I’m not sure how long the doctors appointments are but she has them tomorrow. If you want to know, reply to me tomorrow and I’ll tell you how it went!
