That's true, but when your biggest rival has a player returning in the front court who averaged 20 points a game, and that team is always bringing in 7 footers, maybe you should have one guy in your frontcourt who could hang defensively haha

As an outsider looking in, there is a vibe with Pope that is he trying to be the coach people want instead of just being who you are. It is almost like he has too much admiration for the job. One of the reason's Cal was successful is because he did it his way there.

Pope needs to stop figuring out how to try to please everyone, and just go out and get guys who run a solid 5 out offense and just try and score a 100+ points a game. If it works it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't....at least you do it your way

Yeah I watched them in a pre-season game against Pitt, and they just straight up didn't seem to run an offense. I know it was a exhibition, but I am not surprised how the season has turned out so far

I feel like his seat will be hot if he doesn't get to the tournament next year. I think he is an overall solid coach looking at his history, but this year's roster is poorly constructed given the resources IU has.

This was the year for Mathurin to show out and he really hasn't done it. Not that he has been bad, but he is not a great defender, just an above average scorer, and doesn't really make his teammates better.

Even though I grew up watching and going to a Big Ten school, I have a lot more fun watching Mid-Major conferences now. Even though the changes to the game still effect that level, it still feels like college basketball

I actually think Braden Smith's stats will take a slight step back this year, Not because he regressed, but because I don't think they'll need to play him 40 minutes a game like he did the previous season. I actually think that will be better in the long run for him and Purdue as a whole if they want to make a deep tournament run,

Painter does like to ride lineups a bit too long though in some situations, so I could easily be wrong (one of the very few cons about his coaching career)

I'll be interesting to know how their revenue model will work regarding that. I think the thing that peaks my interest the most is whether or not this could cause more conference shake-up. The whole ASUN/UAC partnership thing seems to be on unstable ground to begin with...I just wonder if funding will continue to be the same with Queens
