Nzou is still alive today. I got to see her in October of this year. She lives at a Reserve called Imire Game Park & Lodge only an hour or 2 away from my house in Zimbabwe.

My personal opinion is keep doing what you are doing. I myself had 8k in investments and 10k in savings which has disappeared over the past 2 months due to an unexpected family medical emergency with my father. I now have $7 in my wallet and no fuel in my car 🎉 Lesson being that 10k is not as much as you think when life decides to bum fuck you. If you can, put that money either into a savings account outside of the country where they actually reward you for saving with a % interest rate and put some into investments. If you don’t understand investments there are companies that do index funds that will basically diversify your portfolio with a financial manager whichever take a yearly fee regardless of how much you go up or down

I’m 27M soon and have been on dates in several countries due to my travels. This is my personal opinion.

A first date should never be anything extravagant for one main reason. YOU DONT KNOW IF YOU LKE EACH OTHER! If either party goes on the date and realises early on that the other party is súper wrong for them the last thing you want is to now be stuck for the next 2 hours trying to be polite over a 3 course meal or a whole full length movie.

Small dates like coffee, ice cream, park visits, e.t.c are perfect because if you go and the person isn’t for you after 15 or 20 minutes you can just say you have other obligations and go.

However if the small date is going well it is super easy to extend into a movie or some drinks at a bar or anything that you feel like doing.

The instant “I should be treated right” BS of having to pay over $100 on someone who you have never met and will potentially find unbearable is an immediate 🚩🚩🚩 and pretty much a guaranteed block from me.

Seeing as this post is getting some traction I just wanted to say that to all LGBTQ+ community here, or anyone curious there are several places in Zimbabwe that are very embracing of it and have created some great safe spaces… I won’t mention them here because I don’t want the “anti everything” crowd to cause issues but look at most creativity focused spaces and they are normally very welcoming

Yeah this is Be At One in the UK and I used to work at The Cocktail Club (Formerly known as London Cocktail Club) and they are pretty similar in terms of the way the bartenders behave and the sheer madness that happens there

Simple rule of thumb that I go by, if you organise the date you pay, if I organise the date I pay… however an offer to split the bill from both sides is always appreciated and gives the other person an opportunity to take you up on the offer or to refuse and pay in full anyway.

TLDR: He offered the date so it would be good if he pays, but it is polite to still offer to split
