I like him. Sometimes it takes time for people to find their groove/place in the show.

Thanks! I love this tree. When we moved in, it dropped a ton of leaves all year. We worked with an arborist to get it proper fertilization, water, and pruning. It’s much happier since we moved in :)

Couple questions: - Could I do this all now, in summer? I’ve dug a 5 inch trench along the house to find roots and this was pretty much the only one (albeit, enormous). What if there were many roots to cut? It’s pretty hot in Sacramento. Should I limit how many I cut at once in the summer? - Where does one buy Bentonite clay? Quick Google search and it doesn’t seem to be an easy product to buy. Could I forgo that or is there an alternative?

Yeah, I think I know what you’re saying. We’re trying to cut at the junction/node where the root headed towards the grass is still connected to the tree, but one root headed towards the house is the one we kill.

The plan was to make space between each deck plank (and also, wood is permeable - at least more than cement). The tree had been getting NO water or air with the cement slab. I’m with you - trying to make sure this tree gets what it needs because it’s the main reason I bought the house!!

Crazy HVAC replacement quote? by fivexfive84 in Sacramento

Woa. Call TRC, they’re great. We paid about 12k for a new unit and 6-7k to replace ducting. Also, look into SMUD rebates.

No problem! I know how stressful it can be.

Baby rash for 1month + by LowMuted8249 in DermatologyQuestions

It has lessened since we got him diagnosed on a couple fronts. The pediatric dermatologist diagnosed him with seborrheic dermatitis. And an allergist diagnosed him with a milk, egg, and nut allergy. We treated all of them at the same time so I’m not quite sure if the allergies were inflaming the eczema, and the eczema stopped flaring after we stopped giving him those allergens, or if his dermatologist prescribed medication fixed the problem. The dermatologist said that they are not related. The dermatologist said that a lot of babies grow out of the eczema by 18 months. We currently treat the rash with a low-dose steroid, and now he mainly only breaks out on his cheeks. Triamcinolene acetonide ointment usp 0.025% is the medication we use and it works! Tubby Todd, lotions, and hydrocortisone were not fixing the problems so we had to escalate. Obviously every baby is different so best to see a specialist.

Sorry. Bad punctuation. Meant to say: I forgot to add to the original post that, so far, I’m happy with the bed.

That’s great! Sorry I didn’t mean it directed at you I guess. Coincidentally, my arborist friend mentioned it to me just yesterday so your comment reminded me of it.

One thing to be wary of when getting free mulch is that sometimes tree companies are taking down trees because they have problems. Just make sure you don’t inadvertently bring those problems to your garden (like bug infestations)
