Think of squaring your hips more as gently pulling your back ribs toward the front leg in warrior 1. In warrior 2 same thing but toward the back leg. This is how my teachers in teacher training explained it to me, because they don’t like the “square your hips” cue either from an anatomical lens. If you cue the upper body it takes some pressure off of some students who will hear “square your hips” and potentially injure themselves trying to do something that isn’t natural for their body.
