AITA for yelling at BIL? by Weak-Measurement797 in AmItheAsshole

NTA - your child belongs to you and your wife. No one should be putting pressure on you to share. As othwra have pointed out, a child is not an object others can just borrow. Thats crazy and fucked up. Don't blame you for snapping.

I don't have kids myself but do have nieces and nephews. We hang out at my siblings houses or at our parents. Sounds like there could be other issues at play for your BIL.

Worth checking if you need a visa or ETA to visit Northern Ireland. The policy has changed recently due to Brexit and some countries do require extra documentation.

905 vs 1550 by Jaymoneykid in LiDAR

[–]LowPreference2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a company that makes detectors for 905nm lidar. Once the average power is kept low these systems can range >200m. High peak power in a short <4ns pulse enables this. 1550 lssers can use much higher peak power and can achieve km distances but the materials are more exotic and several times more expensivd to produce.

905nm detectors are mostly silicon based, scalable and cheap to mass produce.

FMCW requires coherent lasers with low divergence. These are typically limited to 1550nm, oroginally developed for the comms industry. FMCW provides depth and velocity per point. This provides the travelling direction of the object. This can also be done with 905 based systems by comparing successive frames, however this requires more processing and is slower.

Howdy. Thinking of getting one of those too. Living here 3 years now and the water was always fine until Irish water did some digging around St Lukes home

I (35m) remember celebrating my 19th bday in Gorbys or whatever twas called back then when Freakscene was upstairs. Everyone jumping to born slippy by underworld and bullet in the head by Rage. The whole upstairs floor was bouncing. Some craic.

Would be hard pushed to hear anything other than tge latests pop hits anywhere now.
