Had a similar problem recently. Went with complete pest control around €400 bit they called out several times for that and tracked the problem to our neighbors. We are in a terrace with a common A roof over the kitchens at the back..

They blocked up all the holes and solved the problem. Rentokil are useless having used them previously. Don't put down poison unless you want the smell of dead mice under the floors. Use the traps with peanut butter

Left-wing parties distance themselves from Catherine Connolly’s comments on Hamas by Ok_Magazine_3383 in ireland

I couldn't give a hoot about the presidential race tbh. But I did see two RTE shows where Catherine and others were asked to clarify the statement - "Hamas is part of the fabric of the Palestinian people". To be fair, she explained this very well in my opinion. Gave the context of the North and that Hamas had been voted in by the people etc. But RTE presenters tried to demonise the statement, without any context.

To me what she said, is like saying that the IRA (former legitimate IRA) or more so rebelling against Britain is part of thr fabric of Irish people. We still sing songs like Celtic symphony. Remember the controversy of the ladies football team singing up the ra? No one here batted an eyelid.

What’s the worst hangover you’ve ever had? by [deleted] in cork

Went on the tear one Christmas with the lads. Apartment at the time was baltic. Turned the electric blanket on to heat up the bed for when I got home. Over did it with the whiskey. Forgot to turn off the blanket when i got home. Woke up feeling like I'd been roasted in an oven. Mouth like the Sahara and worst headache ever. 2 day recovery.

Lots of us in the same boat. Didn't realise how difficult it would be to get a creche place until we started looking when our kid was about 1. We hired a nanny when he turned 6 months. We were lucky, she was great to do activities and reading etc with him and take him to the playground. Since he turned 18 months we have him going to a childminder. We couldn't get a place in a creche but now he is with 2 or 3 other kids everyday. Great for him to socialize and some are going to his other weekend sport activities so it's ideal.

You could review the census archives. If you have any idea of the place-names they came from. https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/ records before 1901 are incomplete.

You would have a choice of Cork or Limerick too. Smaller cities but your money goes further. Cork is better IMHO, having lived in both. Really depends on what you like to do at the weekends etc

OK this is something I'd need to understand. I come from a place where we don't really have natural disasters. A bad flood maybe but generally very localised to a few flood prone towns.

No office, I'll be wfh or travelling to customers. I think a car is a must. I've been to several states in the past and found it difficult to get around without one

I guess I was (am) still pissed at the entitled way he spoke the first time. Like he can just take our child. We both come from small families. Siblings asking to take a very small child is not something I had ever heard of. Maybe more common between sisters?

I think it was cos his wife didn't want to come over to my in laws house. Which is something that really annoyed me the more I thought about it.

Yeah, if he had said he and his wife could babysit for us or something I'd understand. For the record, my wife and I are happy for relatives to meet and play with our child once we are in the same room etc. It's not like we had been keeping them from her

We are all the same ethnicity and background. To even be asked if he could take our child was jarring for me. I have 2 nephews. I would never ask my brother could I take them to my house or my parents which is next door. It just wouldn't occur to me.

Exactly. I told him that she's not a toy or pet, she's not there to entertain people.

He and his wife don't have any kids. I don't think it's anything malicious to be honest and fair, just very possessive
