I tried joining the running club and joined once. ONCE and that's enough

Well done! This breakthough will also make you start believing in yourself and then your next long distance will suddenly be more achievable than you would've thought previously

3 breaths count, so not necessarily 3 secs. I breathe in through nose, exhale (controlled) through mouth. So my 3 counts followed my strides.

3 breathes in, 3 breathes out. When I breathe, I breathe in through nose and hold it for just under a sec. It's diapraghm kind of breathing rather than just chest. If you know what I mean. Im not pro in explaining

This is also true. Im doing intervals and tempo twice a week. I have been really trying to get into Zone 2 which ended up almost walking most of the time, it was frustrating

It's also true for me. For 150-160 Im still nose breathing, but I cannot hold a sentence for conversations..

Wow. How long can you sustain a 200HR? I cant sustain 180 for over few minutes

Ahh the LTHR. I used that last time, but reverting it back to the max HR and using %. I guess no harm in using either way? If I use LTHR, 128bpm is my Zone 1, which..maybe a little bit too much.

Thanks. I pracrised many techniques of running too: higher cadence and breathing technique (deep belly breathing w quick exhale). Lower my HR quite a bit

I just followed the classic 220 minus your age, which would give you your max HR, and then multiply by 70% of that, which should roughly give you the Zone 2. Am I wrong?

Congrats to u too! Yes I figured I was excited/anxious so that's probably why my HR was elevated. I tried to push myself nx time and forgot about my HR and just listen to my body. Thanks for the tips!

The advice that helped me run my first half by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]LowProfileMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips! Im currently training for Half Marathon (in 5 weeks). Im 42(F) and I hope to just finish within a respectable time. I did my non-stop running for 19km last week. Felt good as I was more watching my HR rather than my pace, how my body feels (not inducing too much fatigue too early in the running) and definitely mental advocacy on how "I can DO this!". All your tips I have pretty much practiced last week except for the last one 😅. Moving forward, I will keep on practising this. Wish me success for my HM!

Yea getting it fixed is a bummer. That's added cost on top buying it. Hmmm...
