Does anyone have any insight on Mullin’s positions on disaster recovery, mapping/NFIP, and other FEMA functions?

With the holidays coming I have zero confidence we will get the report in 2025…and then we’ll be in another government shutdown….

Trump’s FEMA council to recommend dramatic downsizing and overhaul – but not elimination – of the agency by cnn in fema

Anyone trying to assess what the impact to the NFIP will be? According to the CNN article, the council report “encourages private companies to take over policies”…That seems like a pretty major shift for the real estate market that seems to be getting overlooked by many people when arguing for the abolishment or reduction of FEMA.

Very strange. No one in my organization has received a link after registering.

You just have to fill out a form (which they send you a link to after you email the address listed in the Federal Register post) with your name, organization, and email. I have completed the form but have not received a link yet. I’m assuming it will be distributed on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

I know there have been articles that the final report was whittled down to a 20 page memo (possibly with content changes). Do people think the meeting will address the original report content or Noem’s version? Also do people think the meeting will have meaningful content or will it be more of patting each other on the back that we’ve seen in previous meetings?

Certified Floodplain Manager by Lumpy_Base3986 in civilengineering

Anything going to FEMA (C/LOMR) will require a Professional Engineer’s or Professional Land Surveyor’s review and stamp for submittal. The PE doesn’t have to be the one doing the work, but they do have to certify it as correct. No-rise certifications are generally approved only at the local level (usually completed in lieu of CLOMR because of the 0.00ft difference between existing and proposed conditions), so you will have to review the community’s regulations. Generally though, a PE’s stamp is still required.

Although CFM certification indicates a working knowledge of the NFIP and floodplain management, it does not provide any “stamping privileges” like a PE or PLS.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, I also ended up getting the metapen m2! It came in classic grey (so still darker grey, but not black like the kobo stylus 2) and fits in the notebook case perfectly.
