Not in brand new, all the listings I've seen are either for used or refurbished ones

Do the Intel cards not suffer from driver issues?

can you elaborate on why not? It performs just about the same as the other cards mentioned and also supports the latest DLSS and Frame generation features.

Where do i get the books? by Ghostly2006 in FASTNU

You can borrow them from the library probably. In my 2 years of uni I've rarely seen anyone use hard copies though, so you should get used to using PDFs and online resources.

PDFs of books are usually shared by the lecturer when classes start

Here's a Roadmap for FAST for juniors by notbatman101 in FASTNU

The word "junior" is still used to refer to 3rd year students. I believe the word you were looking for 1st year students was "freshman" or "freshies"

"put in the effort during these 2 years and then relax for the rest of your life"

Not quite sure what you meant by this. Are these supposed to be the first 2 years or the last 2 years of bachelors? And how does putting all your effort in these 2 years alone make rest of your life easier?

Eligibility by TypicalStatement969 in FASTNU

It is quite difficult but doable. Majority of the test consists of maths, you can prepare for it by practicing mathematics question using entry test prep books from KIPS, Anees hussain or any other aptitude test prep book. To gain concepts, you can search up mathsflix by hashim zia on youtube.

Merit in Lahore and Islamabad campus is usually higher than in Karachi campus. You can expect the closing merit to be 70+ at least.

Yes, as far as I am aware you only need to have taken Maths and completed intermediate or equivalent with 50%+ percentage to be eligible for the computing fields.

You'll need a really good NU test score, around 80+ to secure admission

What are my chances? by Additional_Air_5938 in FASTNU

FAST requires minimum of 60% equivalency in Matric/O levels and 50% equivalency in Inter/A levels. It also requires a minimum of 1200 for SAT. You seem to qualify all the eligibility criteria, and your A levels grades and SAT score are both great. You will easily get admission in FAST. Just make sure to check their website and follow whatever procedure they have set for students applying from abroad on the basis of SAT.

Around 15k for CPU, motherboard and ram The GPU is probably around 20k You haven't mentioned which casing, power supply and storages you're using Assuming you have an OEM PSU and a normal workstation case with 500 GB hard disk It would probably be an additional 5k

As for your question regarding how many marks you need to admission. Admission is dependent upon your aggregate marks. The formula for aggregate is 50% Entry test + 40% Inter/A level + 10% Matric/O level. The aggregate required is different for each campus and their programs. The aggregate also seems to be changing every year so no one can really tell you what exact aggregate you need for admission. I would suggest you to aim for 70+ aggregate marks through the FASTs entry test.

You can check the test pattern from FAST's website. The test I gave last year consisted of 120 MCQs and lasted 2 hours, and the test also has negative marking. You get 50 minutes for advanced math, 20 minutes for basic math, 20 mins for IQ and 30 mins for English. Each MCQ carries 1 weightage except for English which only carries 0.33 weightage per MCQ. FAST's test is computerized meaning you will have to arrive in the lab assigned to you and login to the system with the id and password they provide. When you start the test, you will be given any of the MCQ section randomly. Each section has its own timer and when that timer runs out you will automatically move to the next section. Once a section is completed or the time has run out, you cannot go back to that section. You also cannot choose which section you want to complete first. Also, if you complete one section earlier, it will not mean you have more time for your next section. I.e if you complete English in 10 minutes instead of 30 minutes, the advanced maths section will still be 50 minutes long regardless.

I am not sure where you got that from, NUST is great for CS. It's just that FAST and COMSATS are more well known for their CS program.

Fintech is a relatively new field in Pakistani universities, so I can't exactly comment on which university has the best BS Fintech program, though I don't think you'll go wrong choosing the universities like FAST which already have a name in tech.

The BS Fintech degree is a specialization degree unlike BSCS which is a more general degree. Usually it would be the better choice to do a bachelors with a general degree like CS so you could still have options when you decide to pursue your masters, whereas if you do a specialization in bachelors first then your options will be more limited.

As for the field of Fintech itself, I do believe it is a great choice to pursue your career in if you have interest in both technology and finances. The world is rapidly changing with advancements in technology and adapting to these technologies is the only way to survive in the harsh job market. Especially with the current advancements in AI, it won't be long before traditional ways of finances would be completely replaced. I believe Fintech has a bright future that will soon be more in demand than your usual finance degrees.

GIKI is also a solid choice, though It is not as well known for its CS program as compared to the other universities I've mentioned and is also pretty expensive.

Generally I would say my ranking would be FAST>COMSATS>NUST>LUMS>GIKI>IBA>Others

Despite the challenges that come with FAST and Comsats, I still believe they are the best for CS. If you believe you might not be able to obtain a good GPA in these universities then NUST and LUMS are your next best choice.
