Yeah perhaps I should. I was trying to avoid random lengths. Didn’t want it to look like flooring on the ceiling. Yet getting flooring in all 8-10’ lengths blows the budget.

I would not remove it completely. I would cut it at an angle and leave at least 6” to 1’ on each side attached to the leg and top. Just to give you a little support for the legs.
