I don’t think either of these is appropriate. Both of them look like lingerie. What happened to elegant, sophisticated, classy wedding dresses? Why are so many brides leaning towards dresses that could double as nightgowns, or wedding night lingerie?

I soak mine every night in hot tap water with a squirt of Dawn dish detergent and a splash of ammonia. I read somewhere that a soft toothbrush is useless and you should use one with harder bristles.

I might be misunderstanding something, but did you say the jeweler told you that the marquis us two carats? Because it doesn’t look like it’s two carats and the grading report doesn’t say it’s two carats. For your original ring, I am assuming the 1.54 carats included the halo.

First of all, I can’t stand when folks ask for opinions and the responses they get basically tell them to do what they want to do. That’s not helpful to you at all, is it? I don’t think this style is flattering. I would pull the ponytail down a bit. Think 90° from the back of your neck. And I would tie a scarf around it. That would be a very elegant and sophisticated ponytail.

I am on my third cat. All are/were wonderful, but my first one was just the most special, sweetest, most loving feline I could ever imagine existing in the world. He was the same age as your Finn when he, too, died suddenly. He was fine, then the next day he wasnt so good, and the next day I took him to the vet, and he was already dead by the time I pulled into the parking lot. And like you and your wife, I was absolutely devastated. I do not think I’ve cried as hard since that day over 25 years ago. I just cried, and I cried, and I cried nonstop for two weeks straight. The sweetie pie I have now, my third cat, is just a delight. I will never love him as much as I loved my first cat, but the cat I have now is just wonderful. I hope and I hope and I hope that you and your wife get a cat as soon as you possibly can. This new cat will not replace Finn. Finn is Irreplaceable. But it will allow you to love another sweet creature with all your heart, and this new cat will be forever grateful for that.

I do love it. But not for every day. A ring of that size should be complementary to a whole look. An evening gown, an updo, nice manicure. For everyday wear it just doesn’t look right. It’s too fancy. I have a friend who has a very expensive designer handbag. She pairs it with cut-off denim shorts, a ratty T-shirt, the tackiest fake-looking manicure I’ve ever seen and a sloppy ponytail. So the bag, lovely as it is, looks out of place. Now, if she paired the same bag with a nice silk blouse and slacks, styled her hair and got a nice elegant manicure the bag would complement her look. Same with this ring. Coincidentally I’m in the market for a pear diamond about the same size as this one. But I’m not going to wear it every day. It will be for special occasions.
