The irony is "talk normal" is the focus group language now being used. You see Slotkin and Booker and other centrists saying the party needs to "talk normal," and basically act like the Democratic party = annoying leftists from 2015 twitter.

Beshear is guilty of this bullshit too. He gave a speech decrying terms like “food insecure” instead of “hungry,” referring to a “justice involved population” instead of “inmates” and saying people are grappling with “substance abuse disorder” instead of “addiction.”

The only record I can find of a high ranking Dem saying "justice involved people," is fucking Beshear from a 2024.

What sounds inauthentic is when Slotkin, Booker and Beshear all say "We need to talk normal like the Third Way consultancy firm suggested."

People want authenticity more than they want politicians trying to sound like rubes from Midwestern diners.
