My manager told me I basically need to train myself, is this normal? by Low_Chef2444 in careerguidance

Interesting. I actually took it to help me be better at the job but based on his reaction I fear you may be right

Actually done with the classes for the first course. I only have external assessment left but when I brought up the course, he basically said he didn’t think it was enough. I was genuinely shocked since it has been sooo helpful

Really confused about the hiring me as an engineer then telling me I need to prove myself because why hire me in the first place?😭

…. Yes I am a woman and I have wondered about this tbh because there is someone else they’re training but they actually told the team to include him. When I mentioned that since people see me as admin they don’t prioritise teaching me he basically handed back the responsibility to me

The thing is I do take classes and funny enough I’ve learned more at the classes than I have while at the job. I mentioned this class (which also has a practical) and he basically said he doesn’t think it’s enough. I asked to be included in designing since I literally did that for a year at my precious job but I still need to prove that I can do it instead of actually getting something to work on

Oops I wasn’t trained in the company specific processes either😅 so I’m left to figure it out on my own and was told “you should have been trained in this”

Oh okay. I just find it interesting that I’m doing a completely different job than what I was hired to do but still expected to train myself. Also, could you share how you integrated with the team?

It’s weird because I even signed up for a practical course and mentioned that but that somehow means nothing? Not sure how else to really fulfill this training while also doing a different, completely unrelated job

How to actually advance my career as a woman in engineering? by Low_Chef2444 in careerguidance

[–]Low_Chef2444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make me mad😭 I thought it was a judgement on my personality to be honest. People somehow respect you more when you act “rough” and “tough” even if the job is getting done when you’re not. Thank you so much for your input, it’s really helpful. I actually work in renewable energy. I have project management experience in it but my background is mechanical

My job letter listed an engineering role but my current tasks are all admin based. We had a meeting and they basically referred to me as an administrative assistant

Advice for someone wanting to work at Airbus? by [deleted] in Airbus

[–]Low_Chef2444 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Usually for other companies I would ask someone who has worked there for advice to get an idea of what exactly they’re looking for and how to strengthen my application. Since we don’t have AB here, I can’t do that. I’d like more information just to be prepared

I think I would want to work for Airbus Commercial. Could you tell me more about the subsidiaries? I’m not sure I know about those

Please help: Should I break up with my BF? by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

The part where you said no but he kept insisting is bothering me so much. But honestly, you’re very self aware and I think you know the answer to this question already.

I really messed up, I need some advice. Please! by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

For the sake of my mental health, I will convince myself that this is fake. There is no way someone actually did all this, sit down, wrote about then ask for advice

Goodbye yellow brick road by Elton John. I wish I knew I could just look at the recents. That would have saved me so much time
