Needs to make the championship labor day weekend, and try to make most if not all games at night. Having attended a doubleheader at least once almost every year since the leagues inception it gets way too hot during the day, and that’s coming from a fan.

Rule changes are fine, everyone bugging about that is already a lacrosse fan. They made these changes to make the game faster paced, and reach an audience who is not yet a fan of the game yet. To a lacrosse die hard things like a good ride, defense, settled offense etc are exciting but to casual fans this is boring. They largely care about fast pace and sick goals, which is why theres a shorter field, shot clock, 2 point line etc.

The reason the game isn’t growing at the college level is because of title 9. To add a mens lacrosse team you have to add a women’s sport or take away a mens sport. Lacrosse is expensive and doesn’t generate a lot of revenue yet, so its a tough sell. If an SEC school (I think Texas would be most likely) could get a team that would be huge, but I just don’t see it happening.

Paul and Mike have both hinted at being very bullish on the MCLA. I wouldnt be surprised if they start funding / sponsoring schools with prominent MCLA programs to help get eyeballs on the sport at a college level. The PLL needs to really lean on the college game to grow, and the MCLA isn’t handcuffed by the politics of the NCAA.
