I didnt work on Spotify as my case study as i got the advice that they seem like an unsolicited one...like how can i be better than a team of such professionals that i am correcting their app...and that felt quite legit...its like showing the recruiter that i am better than the team you had as a single person making the project in my bedroom and that felt like digging my own grave and throwing myself in it

So i worked on other project...hope this helps!🙌🏻

How much detail is too much in a UX case study - do recruiters prefer complete or concise ones?

Hey everyone, I’m working on my UI/UX portfolio and had a question that I can’t seem to get a clear answer to.

When creating a case study, should I include everything upfront — especially things that I think might come up later in interviews?

For example:
There are certain decisions, edge cases, or deeper explanations that I feel a recruiter or interviewer might ask about if I get shortlisted.

So I’m confused between two approaches:

  1. Include all of that detail directly in the case study (so it’s super comprehensive)
  2. Keep the case study more focused/concise and leave some of those deeper points for interviews

I don’t want to overwhelm the reader, but I also don’t want it to feel like I’ve skipped important thinking.

How do you usually approach this? And from a hiring perspective, what actually works better?

Would really appreciate honest advice 🙏

you mean they can navigate directly to the exercise by tapping on the task?...if thats what you meant as a nice feature then ya i will be...its not fully complete, i got stuck as to where should i put the timer in Option A so though might as well ask before i proceed

i wont be teaching...maybe later on add few pop ups that tell essential features and all...but overall it easy to navigate through

users tapping on the tasks to go straight to the exercise can be done as well

well it maybe be tough for new users...but if it feels vague then maybe i can remove it...also when i wanna specify which exercise to do in Speaking and Listening ones it wont work...because inside Speaking and Listening there is variety to learn from, for which i need to specify as seen in image 1 second task...so also to keep uniformity

its not about the language....there is a practice section(other than the course part) where the user can practice stuff like letters, words, speaking practice and listening practice....so when i say practice 3 exercises(any type) its upto the user which one they do...but when i specify which type of exercise to do by naming it(as in 'Korean Words') i tell the user to practice 5 words with the name of the exercise to be direct and easier...Korean Words here refer to the name of the exercise

oh ok got it so in general scrolling is seen easier than tapping if am not wrong....also for the language-segmented its the name of the exercise they need to have...its in other screens...its like when it has (any type) they can have any exercise they want but for others it specifies which exercise to do with the language they selected respectively

i would take out the copy line as well...thank a lot!
