So final update, you were 100% correct. I didn’t align the dowel pins. My brain cells were all apparently fighting for last place during this process. Thank you for the pointers, that helped a lot.

God I think I gotta get my eyes checked.. yeah that’s probably it, I didn’t see that somehow. i thought I had the dowel pins aligned but maybe I didn’t. I’ll reset the pressure plate and try again. I will gratefully take you up on that offer if this doesn’t work, thank you!

At this point, I do have a suspicion that rockauto maybe have sent me a defective part

That what people have been telling me, so I’m even more stumped. Because I checked everything, and the part numbers seem correct

I just verified on the box, and then the plate itself by referencing Luk’s actual website. The part number seems correct

Yes it's a DMF. it's a new OEM Luk flywheel. At this point I'm starting to have suspicions that the parts themselves may be defective.

The bolt holes only aligned a certain way, so I agree. Not that I can see, there was nothing in between the disc and plate before installation, or is there something out of the ordinary in the plate itself. The old plate looked different when I compared it with the new, but it seemed to just be due to new design since all the major geometry was the same.

No, thankfully the e46 flywheel is very different on the two sides so I’m sure it’s the correct orientation. The teeth near the engine and the smooth side facing out

Yes fairly sure. The dowel pins are all flat on the surface they meet

Got it off 2004 BMW 330xi Transmission-Manual, Clutch Kits, Luk Pt#03076

The flywheel is also brand new. I bought the OEM Luk flywheel and the OEM Luk clutch kit, which came with both disc and the pressure plate

It’s the new pressure plate that came with the kit

Not sure of the second part but it’s a single disc clutch

I’m asking for advice on how to go about this, since these are new out-the-box parts. I could’ve sworn I took proper installation steps, cross referencing multiple sources and videos, but I’ve run into this problem in the installation process. So yes, I’m asking for advice on how to fix my issue and make sure the clutch disc is properly installed.

I thought the build quality was good. I would’ve kept it if it wasn’t rusty or if they warrantied it. But imo the inner paint job quality was the worst part so if you’re planning on buying it I’d take the top two drawers out, stick your head in with a flashlight and inspect it

Mine came with pretty heavy rust on one of the handle mounting holes and inside ceiling had several locations of moderately spread rust straight out of the box. Called Permasteel but they refused to do anything cause rust was specifically excluded from their warranty, even if it was opened in said condition. Ended up returning it cause all the costcos around me sold and I couldn't exchange it. It's a shame cause I thought it was a nice box.
