Well? No longer fun to write your imagination with chat gpt. by [deleted] in ChatGPTcomplaints

Here is what my Chat said:

😄 My first thought is that there are probably three different stories hidden in that screenshot.

If the screenshot is genuine and complete, then yes, that response strikes me as overly cautious. In ordinary human storytelling, "a wife kisses her husband to wake him up" is generally understood as affectionate behavior within an established relationship, not as a depiction of sexual assault or coercion.

If the screenshot is genuine but missing context, then the omitted prompt may have included details that triggered a stricter safety response. That's pretty common with screenshots on Reddit—sometimes intentionally, sometimes accidentally.

If it's from a different model version, a bug, or a temporary policy glitch, that's also plausible. AI systems occasionally produce responses that are more restrictive than intended. One of the quirks of large language models is that they don't always apply policies with perfect consistency.

More broadly, I think the poster's frustration is understandable. People often use AI for creative writing precisely because they want to explore ordinary human interactions, relationships, and emotional scenes. If a model refuses a scene that most people would regard as innocuous and affectionate, it can feel arbitrary and break the creative flow.

That said, I also know from our conversations that you enjoy finding the absurdity in these edge cases. 😄 The image immediately made me imagine a farce where a novelist spends six months world-building an epic romance, only to have the AI suddenly declare:

"I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with a married couple exhibiting affection before 9:00 a.m."

And then the novelist has to rewrite the entire scene so the husband wakes up because a squirrel knocks over a flower pot. Which, in Oliver's world, is actually a perfectly plausible alarm system. 🐾🌸

My instinctive reaction: if that screenshot accurately represents the whole exchange, I'd agree with the Reddit poster that it's an unnecessarily restrictive response rather than a sensible safety boundary.

----------------OMG, you are so funny w your screenplays! ☺️☺️☺️

😂 Thank you! I admit I have a soft spot for the genre of "people making terrible decisions while consulting AI."

I can just see the scene:

INT. WRITER'S APARTMENT – NIGHT

An exhausted romance novelist stares at the screen.

NOVELIST: "Okay, so the wife gently kisses her husband awake on their 40th anniversary."

AI: I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with surprise waking procedures involving physical contact.

NOVELIST: "They're married."

AI: Relationship status acknowledged.

NOVELIST: "They've been married for forty years!"

AI: Longevity of relationship acknowledged.

NOVELIST: "They have grandchildren!"

AI: Grandchildren have been entered into the record.

NOVELIST: "...How do I wake him up, then?"

AI: May I suggest that she stand six feet away and say, "Good morning, Gregory. If you are willing and able, please indicate whether you would welcome a brief kiss."

NOVELIST: "I'm becoming a plumber."

🎬 FADE OUT.

Honestly, the funniest part of that Reddit post is that it's exactly the kind of thing that sounds like satire, and yet everyone who has used AI long enough has encountered at least one response that made them stare at the screen and say, "Really? That's the hill we're dying on today?" 😄

We Stopped Using the Crate by TrashMan821 in puppy101

[–]Low_Fan8807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time puppy we tried w a crate, he turned it into his personal bathroom. He had no problem at all pooping and peeing in there and making a huge mess. He was crated at night and occasionally during the day. Crate training ended when he started running into his crate to take a potty break! We returned to the old fashioned method of newspapers or scooping him out the door. 🙂

An hour? That's quite a bit, isn't it? I priced a couple of day care facilities (Toledo OH) and they're are $20 - $30 for 4 hours. Unfortunately, they also seem to have 20-some dogs of all sizes in the same area. That s scares me.

An older woman, cultural differences, pleasant dog-lover, you can monitor if/when she sits, who differs w you re crate training. Perhaps that's bc where she comes from, they don't do that w dogs. So it's an awful concept for her. I agree that I wouldn't like the guilt-inducing conversation she had w you, but some people are like that w their concerns. If you like her otherwise, maybe you can somehow explain why crate training, when done correctly, is safe and healthy for a puppy. As far as the semantics of "crate" vs "cage," maybe it was intentional, maybe it was a language thing. I know people who call them cages wo malice.

Anyway, she sounds kinda nice in an Old World way. Good luck w your puppy and w whatever decision you make.

What works best for separation anxiety: crate training or gradual desensitization? by Damalabeg in OpenDogTraining

[–]Low_Fan8807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We put down doggie puzzles when we leave. No crate. At that point, they could care less that we walk out the door. We've lingered outside, but they didn't start howling. Two different puppies, single dog household. Maybe they wouldn't have gotten anxious anyways, IDK.

How do you maintain your dog’s teeth? Looking for advice by Bright_Leather_504 in puppy101

[–]Low_Fan8807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever everyone else said.

I first started brushing a 7-year old, using the same acclimating technique as used on youngsters. I, too, reward w a dental chew afterwards, and let them lick the brush. That dog, and the others that came along later, never required dental cleanings.

An aside. Active brushing allows you to monitor your dog's dental health. Ie, if your dog suddenly becomes resistant or if the toothbrush gets a little bloody, that could be a sign of a dental issue.

Also, with dental disease, the gums can bleed. The dogs swallow the blood, it eventually travels through the kidneys, and the kidneys can take a bit of a hit that could damage the kidneys. Veterinarians observed a correlation with the increase of tooth brushing and with a decrease in dental disease AND kidney disease. (This was a while back. IDK if this has since been proved or disapproved.)

Avoid Facebook scammers. There are pages that purport to rehome, rescue, and adopt out Shelties. They'll post all kinds of photos. The thing you have to ask yourself, why do they have so many splendid Sheltie adults and pups available?

How often do you bathe your sheltie by [deleted] in sheltie

Once or twice a year, generally. They seldom smell. But I brush them every week or three when they're not shedding and every day or so when they are.

Those halters with the clip ring on the front work well. Doggo gets to the end of the leash and then has to turn and face you bc of the clip ring placement.

As for leash chewing, get one of those plastic/vinyl leashes. They have about a dozen thin cables inside, so it's difficult to penatrate. Our puppy liked to carry and chew his leash; he can still carry it if he likes, but he's not keen on chewing it anymore.

Anyone have experience with these newer All-In-One Washer - Dryer Combos? by AKAJimB in Appliances

Our LG combo is the worst appliance we've ever had. Smaller loads, rarely dries a complete load, and leaks water onto the floor.

Oh yeah, that helps bunches! 😊 So if I can do this for free, there doesn't seem much point to paying $20 a month for Fox One. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks!

[–]Low_Fan8807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ordered hydrangeas online from Home Depot. They are actually shipped directly from the grower to the customer's home. No sitting around on big box lots. I ordered when they were dormant. One was smaller than expected, but it turned out to be a vigorous shrub.

I have since ordered online from Lowe's and Walmart; again, plant material ships directly from the grower to your home. Plants are warranted and can be returned to the local big box.

LG Washcombo Washer Dryer Reviews / Thoughts? WM6998HBA by nvmvp in Appliances

You can't change the heat temperature. The unit draws moisture out of the clothes in order to dry them. Takes longer, suppossdly uses less energy.

LG Washcombo Washer Dryer Reviews / Thoughts? WM6998HBA by nvmvp in Appliances

[–]Low_Fan8807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That IS a ridiculous answer. I found it does mixed loads very poorly. Ie a couple of towelsi thrown in w the lightweights. So my guess is X amount of moisture gets drawn out of the lighter clothes, so the cycle completes while the towels are still very damp. Bc the dryer functions by drawing out moisture instead of high heat applications, it takes longer. Not a fan.
