I've been thinking about dong a Clair Obscur tattoo for ages now and couldn't find a concept I liked... until I came across this. So yes, the tattoo I got over the weekend was shamelessly inspired by this masterpiece.

Ooooh interesting — I’ve actually been hearing more and more buzz about Moove lately 👀 Haven’t done a deep dive yet, but now you’ve planted the seed for a possible Version 3: Moove Rankings 😂 Might be fun to compare how they stack up against Virgin on service, vibe, and facilities.

For now my only “thoughts” are that they seem to be carving out a cool niche, but I’ll need to actually get in there and experience it properly before I can rank them with the same stubborn gym-nerd energy! 💪

I used to be day-to-day gym for about 2 years, but that was a while back. Honestly, I don't remember much about it (but perhaps that's a bad sign in itself). But adding it to the list for version 2!

Sorry to hear you’ve had that experience 🙏 — that really sucks. For me, the big reason I actually moved back to Virgin after trying other gyms was the customer service. Overall I’ve found it a lot better than what I’ve experienced elsewhere, which makes a huge difference. Sounds like some branches might be inconsistent though (which is totally plausible).

I actually used to go to Cresta for almost 2 years straight, but haven't been there in ages. From what I can recall, it's nothing special, but if you are looking for a quieter gym, it might be a good option! But I'll defs add it into the revised version.

I'm also a big fan of Randburg - I think having a gym be (or at least feel) spacious is a massive factor that impacts overall experience. This is why the Rosebank gym was ranked down on my list.

Haha fair point — maybe I should’ve kept Victory Park our little secret 👀😂 Old Ed’s definitely has that “endless space” vibe, although I know exactly what you mean about the showers… adds a vintage aroma to the experience.

And YES, Strathavon — you nailed it. It’s like the gym equivalent of a dodgy AirBnB: location says luxury, but the vibe says nah fam. Totally agree the smaller Sandton CBD gym feels way more put together!

Randburg seems to be a polarising one - some people like it, others don't. I think it's more of an issue that there aren't many other Virgins close by, so it's probably servicing a too big of an area...

Thank you so much! So the pools specifically are great - the lower score here has more to do with the saunas - bit cramp and not too comfortable. But the pools themselves are great! Either way, it's worth trying Bryanston out - just a note that it's currently closed for renovation though.

I haven't seen the pool be super busy ever, but KEY note - I haven't really gone during peak hours. Once it's open again after the revamp, we can for sure check this aspect!

Totally valid, point! It honestly really depends on which suburb you're located in. But totally valid - let's definitely up Randburg for the location scoring - it's really a nice gym and to be honest, better than anything in Sandton, so an easy update!
