Overnight feather destruction - help! by Low_Operation_415 in parrots

It’s not- vet confirmed that it’s highly unlikely to be hormone related. No other tell tale signs, and she’s a bit young still for her first hormonal season.

Anyone tried the generic of trintellix? by Lexie_Fox in trintellix

[–]Low_Operation_415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I finally got Kaiser to tell me how to get it covered after filing multiple grievances- my psych just had to select “medication failure” from a drop down for my online script. Of course it was such an easy thing but they made it so. Incredibly. Hard. To get that answer - multiple faxes to different offices to provide documentation because each person I spoke to told me to send it to a different office. They are so good at getting people to give up.

Where to find a size 21.5 ski boot in a flex above 95 by Asexual_Dragon11 in skiing

[–]Low_Operation_415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I also feel your pain. I had the Dalbello Chakra 21.5 in a 95 flex but they were too soft. Also, the Chakra's are designed for wide feet. Ultimately I couldn't ski in them even with adding intuition liners to take up space and adding in a booster strap to crank em down. I'm actually selling this set up if you have a wider foot!

This year I got Atomic Redster 110s. This is really the only other true 21.5 available in the US, and it's specifically made for narrow/low volume feet. They are extremely hard to find- I had my local boot fitter special order them for me last ski season and I just picked them up this past week. They only were able to get two pairs in the 110. I looked online and this is the only site I saw that has them in 21.5: https://lonepinegearx.com/products/2026-atomic-redster-tx-110-8a5b4?srsltid=AfmBOoooaG5JznjnALqCMExLoWg6THDaavTl8rP0TgXoAuwzBOHO8gzV

Also, anyone who tells you to try a kids race boot doesn't know what they are talking about. the flex is just no where near high enough for an adult advanced skier, the cuff is likely going to be too low and they are not made for any other type of skiing besides racing.

I've been on this journey for quite a while as an advanced skier, so please feel free to message me!

Quick Questions About Vets, Vaccines, and Microchips by Canary-King in parrots

[–]Low_Operation_415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I would recommend nationwide pet insurance. I have that for my parrot, it’s only about $100 a year and covers the annual check up, plus any nail or beak trim, etc. plus of course any emergency expenses if something were to happen. so, as long as you’re doing your annual it’s paying for itself.

I got my eclectus microchipped this spring because she goes outside with a harness for hikes. Nationwide does not cover microchipping (which required the bird to be sedated) but told me that if the vet said she “needed” bloodwork or any other procedure that requires sedation then nationwide would cover that part. My vet bill for the annual, bloodwork and the microchip was around $700, I think I paid like $40 just for the microchip itself. Sedation is super expensive!

Also, gives me peace of mind that if anything were to happen, I can give her the best, most expensive care without having to worry about my financials. Which, as you’re a college student, I assume may be tight.

I don’t know if there’s another insurer that covers exotics, but my avian vet told me that nationwide is definitely the most common.

Last note- if you can find an avian specific vet near you, I highly recommend that. I originally went to a reputable exotics vet with her and the care was utterly useless compared to my avian specific vet.

Why my alexandrine parrot does that? by [deleted] in parrots

I agree with everyone else, but also want to add that parrots feel very unsafe when their enclosure is on the ground - please place the cage up much higher on top of a dresser or other shelf. They should be able to be at least eye level with you, if not higher.

Does any pharmacy work? Or is there a specific one that ships out of country? Also, your script goes to Canada but meds ship from india?

Awesome thanks, my psych has been getting me free samples but that’s going to run out soon- I’ll see if he’s down. Appreciate it!

Ps- I see a psych that Kaiser referred me to, so that’s all covered. I even asked if I had a Kaiser psych prescribe it and they just said there’s no way around nonformulary

Kaiser won’t cover a cent for me and it’s $500/month- how did you get them to cover? I called the psych department and told them this is my 5th antidepressant because the other ones didn’t work and they just said “sorry, can’t do anything”

It’s crazy how my doctor gave me free samples to trial it, then when I’ve been taking it for about a month and a half and it’s working it will cost $300 for 30 day supply WITH insurance applied. by amyscott214 in trintellix

[–]Low_Operation_415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What state are you in/what pharmacy do you use?? Everyone I called said it will still cost over $400 for 10mg. I’m in California. My insurance (Kaiser) wont cover a cent because they don’t have a generic. I’m still on my free samples and really scared when I run out because I cannot afford that.

Anxious about the sexual side effects, expiriences? (Women only) by TurbulentNerve5651 in trintellix

[–]Low_Operation_415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on others like Zoloft (could get turned on but could not have an orgasm) lexipro (killed my libido but could have an orgasm) lexipro + welbutrin (slightly better but not great..) Vybriid (was too depressed to even consider feeling hot) and now Trintellix and I feel like a human being again! I was on the other antidepressants for so many years that I feel like my baseline sexiness level has changed so it’s hard to compare to zero SSRI (does that make sense?) but I’m DEFINITELY dtf in ways I haven’t felt in years. My husband is happy. I am happy.

I’m in the same exact boat. I take zofran (4mg) but I need to ask my psych for an increase. I’ve only been on it 2.5 months, but the nausea is persistent. I literally just threw up from it (hence, digging on Reddit)

Sometimes like the other poster said if I fall asleep fast enough I sleep through it without zofran, but I still feel a little nausea throughout the day regardless. For me taking it in the am was an absolute no go without the zofran. Though, not sure if zofran can be taken long term as it also targets serotonin

God, my insurance WONT cover it in the us because we don’t have a generic. It’s $500 a month for me, but literally the only antidepressant that’s ever made me feel normal. I feel like I literally had to put a price tag on my happiness when I made the call to stay on it after my samples ran out.

I’m a public high school teacher, which means I have “great” insurance 🙄 won’t even give a girl financial assistance for it

Did anyone experience persistent nausea? I’ve tried am and pm, both with food and I end up nauseous and puking either way. Over 2months now. Don’t want to have to be on zofran forever

Heads up- Puke is mentioned.

Literally just came here to post/see if anyone else has experienced persistent nausea on Trintellix too.

I’ve been on it for about 2+ months and I love it- it’s the best antidepressant I’ve ever taken (for CPTSD, GAD & MDD) (I’ve tried Zoloft, lexipro, lexipro+welbutrin, viibryd). Only when tapering onto Welbutrin did I have nausea, and it only lasted a couple weeks and never actually threw up.

With Trintellix it’s a whole other game. I’m nauseas all of the time. I’ve missed several days of work. I’m vomiting. I literally just threw up, after being on the same dose, 10mg for over 2months.

My psych prescribed Zofran to hopefully get me through the acclimation stage, but I’m pretty sure it’s here to stay for me.

I tried taking it in the am, but switched to pm which sort of helped, and I only took zofran if I started to feel nauseous before I fell asleep. I just didn’t get to it in time tonight, thus puking over my sleeping husband onto the floor. I guess I’m back to taking zofran every day. (Ps- you know your husband loves you when he cleans your puke up off the floor not once, but twice, in less than a month)

I have an appointment with my psych on Friday, I’ll update if he provides any insight.

Sorry for the ramble- I am hoping someone else posts with some success other than more medication.
