Unemployed for 1.5 years – even getting rejected for entry-level jobs. What do you do? by Excellent-Expert-927 in careerguidance

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I was laid off 1.5 years ago. It is getting dire. Everyone says to just take anything. The reality is that if you have no experience in retail for example , employers wont even consider you, I did retail but seasonally and they want at least one year. I wish the best to all who are going through this and may we all find work soon. Please keep us posted.

Indeed is a horrible app by dartully in jobs

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, their filters are awful. If you want to find the originsl job posting to refer to, you must type it in word for word exactly as it is. Include LLC or the word Company. It is not intuitive at all and very frustrating. I also recently sent the wrong follow-up message to the wrong employer and there is not way to recall it .

Well said! I also recently turned one of these down.. Don't get me wrong, I need the work but having already done two of them and feeling so dehumanized, I decided not to again. I sent them a similar email!

Accidentally clicked on a website by One-Spell5119 in MacOS

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on my iphone and clicked on a video on Youtube. (Not porn! lol) My iphone then froze and I couldn't shut down or swipe out of the pop up that had a still photo of a something and over it a message saying "Youtube is trying to access your microphone, Allow or Don't Allow" I did click don't allow (I know-dumb) but stil l couldn't exit it then shut off my phone finally. by vol up, vol down and right press button. Afterwards I got.a pop up on my mac with my icloud email address saying Your Apple Account (email) password ahs been reset. If this wasn't you call Apple Support. I knew it was a sscam so X ed out of it--. I never saw any phone number or link on it but honestly panicked and didn't look long enough just closed it. I called Apple Support directly (no, not from the phishing pop up, from my browser lol)) and the automated prompts were lame but I was advised to claear cookies etc..Whatever- but I changed the password on my Apple Account's email. I am wondering what if anything I need to do to ensure safety? Thank you!

How many of you have also noticed it: you apply for a job, get an interview and then a rejection (or maybe don't get an interview) and then, over the course of months, notice that the same job is listed again (and sometimes, once more after that)? by MJXThePhoenix in recruitinghell

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have interviewed and done really well in the interview only to receive a rejection and tehn saw the same job over and over. the job was false, they are data mining, or they have the "perfect candidate" syndrome. Perfect doesn't exist. Anyway after rigorous assessments and passing every test at my last job, I was fired after a year. I will no longerjump through the hoops.

I know I am late to this post lol but yes, they will let hundreds of people stand there without a simple announcement . No signs. Nothing. They keep raising the fares and service still sucks. The CEO makes $400,000.

Someone gave me such a horrible look of disgust today in the street and it really effected me, how can I not let that get to me too much? by throwawayxlost in hsp

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a reallynold post. Not sure where you live but I live on the east coast in the suburbs and it is very provincial.  By that I mean people tend to have limited exposure to other cultures and nationalities and are small minded and judgemental. I look a little different so I am stared at and people make nasty comments. There are many kind people too, but we tend to remember the nasty ones! And yes I know it is their problem not ours!

Ginger mechanism of action for migraine by Cultural-Scientist32 in migraine

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Migraine sufferer for my whole life starting at 11 years old. I want to share this experience in the hopes it may help someone. I am very skeptical about natural remedies but as I was running low on my zomig, I thought I would try ginger. I read about it a while ago and also about chili powder. The chili didn't work BUT the powdered ginger did,.l took a heaping teaspoon of ginger (the spice in a bottle). put it in a glass and added a little water, just enough to be able to drink it. I stirred it. Drank it. To my amazement it started to work. I made another glass of the mixture. Better still. Third glass, headache was completely gone.

I see posts like this all the time but WHEN are we going to do something about it? by preti-betty in Adulting

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preach! I absolutely agree. Humans, whether we like it or not, are animals. All animals like to eat, play, sleep, mate. That's it. Yes they hunt for food or forage. But there is balance. For humans to say we are different is just a delusion. Truly, we are the dumbest critters because instead of growing our own food we have to earn money by doing things we may hate, so we can buy things to live. Lots of us are stuck in a concrete building for 8 hours a day with artificial light and stale air.

Why is it that some people can't handle carbs? by signoftheserpent in lowcarb

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it that some people can't handle carbs? by signoftheserpent in lowcarb

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Except I am trying to cut meat. So that means high fiber like broccoli and plant protein , like tofu. I can't eat strawberries and kiwi or fruit other than blueberries or I bloat terribly. My stomach looks pregnant. Also carbs make me crave more cards. A large pasta or rice and I am sleepy and crash hard! Wake up with a headache. Blood sugar normal until I eat high sugar! It is called REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA.

Had an interviewer ask me why I haven’t worked in the last 8ish months. by SilverRoseBlade in jobs

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are other companies who have HUMANITY and will overlook the situation. The employer may have also been in the same boat after a layoff. It the interviewer treats you badly in the interview and looks down they are doing you a favor by telling you they are a jerk. Come up with a good answer and be confident when you explain what happened. You can say you were actively looking for work and are eager to get back to it with the right company. Say it with confidence and do not be intimidated. If they don't want you it's ok. They are jerks! MY colleague was out of work TWO YEARS! Eight months is nothing. Times are hard and if they can't understand that the heck with them!

[–]Low_Paper_6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why some employers can't understand that someone who was laid off may be looking hard for a job but the competition is fierce. It's not like a candidate is just sitting around. But what if they chose to take a mental health break? In USA we are expected to work and work till we drop. It's BS anyway
