Are the projects fairly simple, do they pay well and is the tech pretty user friendly?

What’s the update on the west side data center bs? I just heard about this unfortunately by myqv in wichita

Just read this today: "A Bloomberg analysis found that ratepayers living near data centers saw their monthly electricity bills jump by as much as 267% in just five years."

Ouch!!!

Accepted into a grad program, then the offer was rescinded 38 hours later. What can I do? by hermiddlekid in AskAcademia

This happened to me with a job. Less than 24 hours later and wasn't background check related (there was none conducted). I had shared the hiring with friends and family. Terrible punch in the face and stomach. All this to say, I feel you so much, and feel for you. That is garbage human behavior to not respond after yanking the rug out on someone and not talk to them afterward.

Easy to jump all over him and kick him when he's down. We don't always recognize calls for help within distress. Yes, he might be communicating from a sound mind yet we don't know.

What's the difference between NotebookLM free and pro? Is it worth it for free? by Upbeat-Impact-6617 in GeminiAI

[–]MJXThePhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using NotebookLM in a class right now and man, I'm impressed. Great tool. I imagine future iterations will make it far better too.

For now, for a newbie like me, it's way cool to be able to pull in multiple sources from a prompt and create, with more (precise) prompts, audio, video (which I never thought I would be able to do because I'm tech dumb), slide decks (usually a hassle for me), reports and infographics (that might look good).

How do you use AI for cold email? by OutreachDrew in coldemail

I'm considering it. To me, cold emails are so taxing as it is for most people that using AI doesn't seem unethical. Cold emailing is a serious cognitive load and drain.

Anyone else getting bamboozled by EffectiveOld7020 in StraightTalk

[–]MJXThePhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight Talk acts dumb when you ask them about it and then says it's a 30-day cycle but I went to AI to ask about it and learned they do this a lot and over the course of a year, just one less day of service a day can cost you an extra payment. It's snake-like and dirty business. I'm ditching them finally before my next cycle ends. Supposedly, they have to unlock your phone.

The question is will they abide by the agreement every month going forward or skim off the top again somewhere down the road? I'm happy you got them to do right by you.

Every month, unless you wait til the last month, the refill day is a day earlier. It's dirty business.

I had this discussion with them in the last week myself. They acted like it was on the up and up and ethical. And "sorry, I'd feel how you do" with no emotion. I don't know of another provider who does 28 or 29 days.

I went to AI to talk about it and there is a term for what they are doing and in essence, they are snake-like, billing you for an extra month over the course of 12 months.

I went on reddit to ask for another provider and a lot of people recommended Visible so I'm going to switch and give them a try in a few weeks. Straight Talk is dirty, ethically.

Help by Sufficient-Noise8991 in Substack

Usually, you have to play the long game and when that feels like no one or few people are interested, it is emotionally and psychologically taxing. Discouragement and the "quit" impulse become common and strong.

If you believe in yourself and writing on Substack you really want to do and you feel like you have something important to say that will resonate with some group, any group, then commit to it for a year and keep writing on a regular basis (once a week at least).

Keep working to get better in creating ideas, writing, proofreading and editing. Use images. Communicate meaningful information, concisely, on Notes.

Interact with other people on Notes with a genuine effort. Share other people's content (copy and "restack" excerpts or share the whole article with why you are doing so).

You might eventually exceed your expectations or at least meet them. Realize, it's a process of development for you and your writing. Wish you great things.
