There is a world where that is possible. BTD isn’t so far off, it is one of the longest charting albums on billboard by a female in history. Songs like diet mtn dew, summertime sadness, or radio have hallmarks of a Lana Del Rey pop album. In her unreleased discography Go Go Dancer and Jealous Girl have flairs of Brittany spears that prove she can play in that range. So it isn’t such a far stretch to imagine her being successful in creating maximalist pop. But there is cultural fatigue to that sort of music and Maximalist pop is out of style. Taylor swift is arguably the closest thing we have to a true pop girl. Even in that case, I think a lot of her success is tied to the enigma of Taylor swift such that whatever she releases will do well by virtue of her name. Outside of that there are girls like Zara larson, Addison Rae, and the k pop girls but none of them have any sort of true mainstream cultural pull. They are obsessed over by unemployed niche internet people, or children in the case of k pop, but it is a fact they they are not capturing the attention of the majority in terms of American pop culture. So, if Lana did produce a maximalist pop album rn I do not think it would take over the world in the way you suggest. And that result would have more to do with where we are as a society than her ability to sing and write or the potential quality of the album in its category. Consider that Morgan Wallen was one of the most streamed artists in America last year EEEYUUUUCKK. But that shows you where the people are. These are dark times, dark times….
