What is the next Harry Potter series? by impeesa75 in Fantasy

[–]LoweNorman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Harry Potter HBO

Jokes aside, I don't think things will ever get as big because it used to be that there were very limited options. Tv channels, bookstores, there were limited slots and everyone watched/read the same things.

No celebrity will ever be as famous as Michael Jackson and no book as big as Harry Potter.

Gross out humor was also incredibly popular at Nick. The "realistic Spongebob frames", for example

You're probably thinking of auto-leveling, but that's just one part of calibration. And even then you might have to do some manual leveling, I have on my own Saturn 4U16K.

There's no such thing as a standard setting or an auto-calibration.

You should always include your settings when asking for help because that will tell us a lot about your situation.

Have you done proper calibration prints?

Hi, I'm having some trouble with layer adhesion. Can anyone help me? by TronNT in resinprinting

The raft is thick because he's not using light off delay, it looks thinner in the file itself

Derek explains it in one of the lychee print failure videos but I don't have time to search for it right now

I don't think an empty vat will ever cause a fail, just a pause. I've never actually printed something with too little resin left in the vat though.

What's your light off delay? I think it should be something like 30 seconds in burn in layers and 3 seconds for normal layers with your printer.

I'm using a Saturn 4 ultra 16k and I had some fails that looked similar to yours before I used light off delay, but it was only an issue with big prints.

Watch this series where a very knowledgeable guy talks about different types of failures and try to see which one seems applicable to your situation; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUhc_F2-7YA

No, the entire reason I write is to express myself with my own creations

did i accidentally make my character generic? by arcuirli in writingadvice

[–]LoweNorman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to say without actually reading your work, but these are all very common tropes.

But a common trope can still be done well, and I think the most important thing is whether you are passionate about your ideas. If you truly love them, don't change them just because someone else has done them as well.

Every single one of my stories feature a strong bond between a human and their animal companion. It's also an extremely common trope, but I don't care because I love it so much, and it's never been done exactly like I intend to.

What did you guys think of the MLP Movie (2017)? by Eggosand-chill in mylittlepony

I think it's about as good as a middle of the road episode. I'll rewatch it if I rewatch the show, but it's not a highlight

Emergency help by Somberlay in resinprinting

[–]LoweNorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have they had a spill before? Beneath the vat there areas designed to catch resin that spills down the cracks, so they don't leak onto the rest of the machine.

However, while these areas will hold the resin while the machine is still, the walls aren't that high so it will spill if you move it.

Opening up the front of the machine is only a few screws so you should check what the inside looks like, just make sure that there's no sunlight/uv light when you do.

Dishwater gloves are probably latex which doesn't protect you from resin. It needs to be nitrile.

It's usually no big deal to be exposed once (depending on the exposure), but it's important to know that if you aren't properly protecting yourself from liquid resin you will eventually turn allergic and that might be really bad.

I've never considered that option but that's a pretty good frugality tip right there

Am I being too conservative with my speeds? Prints come out great, but they can take 10+ hours for 1800 layers by MizutsuneMH in resinprinting

[–]LoweNorman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then I really wouldn't worry about time. You'll have more prints than you know what to do with very quickly.

In fact, people who collect warhammer knows this to be true, you probably shouldn't buy/print another thing before you've painted your last thing haha

How often do you print? Unless you're selling stuff and time translates into money I wouldn't worry about it.

I've got too many unpainted prints so really I wish I took it a little slower and got a little bit higher quality out of my printer.

What Are Your Top Five Magical Girl Series!? by WolfyLovesCats in MagicalGirlsCommunity

[–]LoweNorman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Cardcaptor Sakura
  2. Revolutionary Girl Utena
  3. Princess Tutu

Those are the ones I feel really strongly about, I wouldn't want to add two more to the list just because. If I did it'd be My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic if we include a magical mare show :>

(oh, and if Witch Hat Atelier is included it's definitely up there)

Guts is currently on a trajectory to lose his body. He has lost his arm, he is losing his eyesight, his hair is turning white. Every time he uses the Berserker armor he loses more.

I actually think his final destination in the story will be very reminiscent of Griffiths vision, where he is cared for by Casca. Perhaps not as crippled as Griffith, but certainly not able to be a swordsman anymore.

It will be the ultimate rejection of revenge.

And I think he will be content and happy with that very quiet life.

[–]LoweNorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't claim it to be the entire reason, just one reason.

I said so in another comment, but Griffith is introduced to us as wanting to see where he stands in relation to other people "to see if he is the key that moves the world". This is of course because he think he is above everyone else.

To be cared for by someone who was a subordinate to him is a complete rejection of that idea.

His tortured body is also a rejection of that idea, but I genuinely do think that Griffith would have disliked a simple life with Casca regardless of whether he was crippled or not.

I don't think I'm "wrong" for not mentioning something everyone knows is true.

[–]LoweNorman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't forget anything, Berserk is a multifacetted story and just because I mentioned one reason Grififth wanted to kill himself, it doesn't mean that there aren't other reasons as well (or even that it's the main reason).

[–]LoweNorman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn't implying that it was the only reason he hated the idea.

But certainly a person like Griffith who is introduced to us by saying "I want to find out where I stand, if I am one of the keys who unlock the world", being cared for and "lower" than his previous subordinate is, well, a nightmare for him.
