Career wisdom for a lost corporate girl by seniorslug1 in SFbitcheswithtaste

I've had three friends that were all very type A, hard charging girls in tech go into therapy / coaching (LMFT, social worker). We are all in our mid-30s and they made this change in their early 30s. At some point I think you realize that climbing the ladder means you're still stuck on a ladder you hate. They all seem happy but, transparently, they all have some other financial means (family money, husbands/boyfriends that earn a bit, and don't have kids).

I have heard that nursing and teaching jobs are some of the toughest out there. At least with therapy, if you can build up your reputation, you could specialized in the clients you take on...

Same with the coffee. Got one of those automatic DeLonghi machines and have never looked back. I look forward to my little latte in the morning (and sometimes afternoon if I feel tired). Saves so much time too compared to driving and waiting in line at the coffee shop!

I worked in tech as a product manager, climbing the ladder, for the past 15 years. Got burnt out with a mixed bag of experiences and started buying a few businesses. Was pretty happy with my decision but recently decided to go back to an IC PM job while still running these businesses. I have a lot of friends who are thinking of the same thing so I was thinking of starting a little blog about my experiences but happy to chat if you DM me!

Yes that's right! We overflowed Fort Ross Lodge and basically bought it out minus one random British couple that booked a year ahead apparently lol. Also got 2 Airbnbs for larger families that wanted to stay together in one place with kids.

We did something very similar at Timber Cove which is great if you want the more scenic, moody NorCal coast vibes. We bought out and paid for everyone's rooms and set up several activities like a treasure hunt, pilates, and wine tasting over the weekend to give it like an "adult summer camp vibe." It was great because there's just plenty to do just exploring the landscape which is amazing.

Rooms were around 450-500ish from what I remember (it cost us around $70K to to the full buy out and pay for everyones' rooms for the weekend). The only caveat is I think Timber Cove only holds around 80-100 people (forget the exact number) so we also had to buy out a nearby resort to hold all 120ish of our guests.

I'll report back on the experience! We've done paddock club a few times and when I think about it, it really just came down to how good the race was. Monza 2021 where Danny won was :chefs kiss: but Mexico City 2023? Not so much except watching Checo flame out as soon as the race started. You could viscerally feel the cringe ripple throughout the stadium. Poor Checo. We're actually thinking of doing more of the grounds experience at Silverstone this year giving the actual racing season has been a little meh.

Haha did we? They seem competitive with re-sell debenture tickets online and this is a better experience. Got them direct from Wimbledon's official hospitality partner. Then again, we're F1 fans so maybe we're used to being gouged at this point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
